OLVCS Summer Updates #1
June 27, 2024
Dear OLVCS Families,
I hope you are all having a fabulous summer. We are busy at the school getting ready for the 2024 - 2025 school year, which is very exciting.
If you are receiving this Updates, and should no longer be on the distribution list, please email Terry Stec @ stect@olvcs.org and he can take you off. It takes some time to get the list just right, so please be patient.
We have some updates and changes for you to know. First, as of this email, we are happy to report that we are fully staffed. However, some changes were necessary due to enrollment. We will have one 4th grade class. Mrs. Meghan Davis will teach that grade. Mrs. Davis is a veteran teacher who has taught classes of this size and larger in the past. She will be awesome.
Mrs. Gorzelnik has agreed to teach first grade. We are thrilled to have her in the primary hallway. You may not be aware, but Mrs. Gorzelnik is certified special education teacher. Which means she excels in small group instruction, much of what 1st grade is. In addition, she was Teacher of the Year in Brooklyn, New York. She is working this summer to prepare for the grade change, by taking classes and familiarizing herself with the material. Mrs. Gorzelnik puts her heart and soul into teaching and I have no doubt she will be amazing in 1st grade.
We have a calendar change. We will now have Tuesday, September 3rd off. (a really nice long Labor Day weekend) The teachers will be in session for professional development. The calendar is below.
Make your summer a great one!

2024 OLVCS Walk-A-Thon
- Summer is a great time to start fundraising!
- Here are some fun and creative fundraising ideas that both you and your children can participate in over the summer:
- Lemonade Stand: Set up a lemonade stand in your neighborhood. It's a classic summer activity that’s also a great way to raise money
- Bake Sale: Organize a bake sale with homemade goodies.
- Car Wash: Gather a few OLVCS friends and offer a car wash service. This is a fun, hands-on way to raise funds.
- Yard Sale: Clean out your closets and hold a yard sale. It’s a great way to declutter and raise money at the same time.
- Dog Walking or Pet Sitting: Offer dog walking or pet sitting services to neighbors and friends.
- Chores for Donations: Offer to do chores around the house or for neighbors in exchange for donations.
- Family and Relatives: Summer travel is a perfect opportunity to see relatives and ask them for donations. Alternatively, use the summer to send handwritten letters to relatives asking for their support.
- Share your fundraising efforts on social media and tag our school’s Facebook and Instagram pages. Seeing everyone's creativity and enthusiasm will inspire our entire community and bring us closer together as we work towards our goal!
- Every little bit helps, and remember, your summer fundraising efforts will count toward students’ eligibility for individual, family, and class prizes!
- Donations can be made online at www.olvcatholicschool.org/walkathon or collected in your family envelope that were sent home this week.
- Thank you for your continued support and dedication to our school community.
- We look forward to seeing everyone’s fundraising efforts come to life over the summer!
