The Tuesday Notice
January 14, 2025
Our Class 1 enjoyed a visit from their Raven Class (sixth grade) buddies last week! The Ravens shared the joy of reading with the first graders, helping to reinforce the foundational skills the younger students are developing. This special time also gave our older students the chance to relive the magic of simple stories and picture books.

History and Vision Night is an important milestone in our school year. The event serves as our annual meeting to discuss our financial health as required for our non-profit status. This gathering is an opportunity to tell the story of the history of our school as well as our vision for where we're going. Please join us for this adults-only evening for a moment of reflection, examination of our current reality, and our future path. After refreshments and presentations, join your class teacher for an important class meeting.
This event is sponsored by the board, faculty, and staff of the Siskiyou School and we hope to see you there!
Enrollment for 2025-26 Kindergarten & First Grade

The first step is returning an application for admission, available here. Thank you!
Spirit Week fun for Middle School!
Spirit Week is a fun way for our Middle School students to get excited about the upcoming dance! Please join us by showing your school spirit with these fun themes for each day! Students are to keep in mind the school dress code and remember they will still need to participate fully in each class (including Games!).

Hot lunch order forms for Second Semester are available now! Please download a form below or pick up forms from the front hallway table. We must have a completed form and payment in the office for your child to receive hot lunch. If you are unsure if your child is signed up to get hot lunch for next semester, please contact Amy in the office (amy.bull@siskiyouschool.org). Thank you for supporting our 8th grade trip!

Middle School Fridays kicked off last week! All our middle school students get the opportunity to try an elective class with a mixed-age group for 4 to 5 weeks. It's a great way to meet the other students in our middle school and learn something new or just have a bit of fun on Friday. Congrats, Middle School!
Grandparents' Day - February 21, 2025
Help us plan for this important event by completing the form below. Thank you!
Our Middle School Games (P.E.) classes have been focused on dance this block! From high renaissance dancing (demonstrated here by the Blue Heron 7th graders) to west coast swing to the hustle, we're thankful for our dance instructor Susanne Seiber (https://www.suzanneseiber.com/) and her incredible skill in getting Middle School students to hold hands and move with rhythm!
This week we continue the gratitude from our faculty and staff for the outpouring of support during the holiday season. Thank you, families and community!
Mrs. Bishop - Class 1 Assistant
Dear Siskiyou School,
Thank you for your generous gifts and kind thoughts. Have a wonderful new year!
Ms. Aguilar - Class 2
Siskiyou School Family,
Thank you so much for your words of appreciation and support! I feel that I have the best job in the world and somehow this community continues to find ways to make it even better each and every day. Your generosity allowed my husband and I to visit my grandparents for the holidays and pay a friend to look after our small 'zoo'. With so many animals any extended time away is a rarity! Thank you again for the lovely messages, I could not be happier to have landed here in Ashland. Blessings on your new year!
Ms. Sayre - Class 2 Assistant
Dear Families,
Thank you so much for your kind words and offerings! It is truly an honor and a joy to take part in the children's learning and growing everyday.
Mrs. Bartow - Bear Class
It was such a joy to cozy up with a cup of coffee and read your thoughtful notes of appreciation! Your kind words truly warmed my heart. Your generous gift and heartfelt messages made the start of my winter break incredibly special. Thank you so much for your kindness and support!
Ms. Leann - ACORN program
Dear Siskiyou School Families,
Thank you for your sweet words of appreciation and the generous donation towards the teacher gift-giving fund. I look forward to sitting down with my cards each holiday season and soaking it all up with a cup of warm tea! Your words are heartfelt and are a true glimpse into how special this community is for all of us, teachers, parents and children. Blessings for a spectacular 2025!
Mr. Smith - Woodworking and Groundskeeper
Dearest Siskiyou School Parents,
It is a true blessing when there is a card full of so many positive inspiring words. Your generosity and support give this school a warmth and glow throughout the year. Thank you for all the extra magic you gave your children during this holiday season, they were bright and ready for school when they came back. I’ll see you on the road.
Our community classifieds are posted as a service to our Siskiyou School families and our broader community. If you would like to include something in the classifieds, email your text (a few lines in length) or an image file (png or jpg only), to kristin.beers@siskiyouschool.org no later than Monday by 3:00 pm. We may edit it for space purposes. Classifieds are included for two weeks, require a break for a week, and then can be renewed upon request.
Chess Club Update
It felt good to get back to 'regular' Chess Club once again. The students were excited and I'm noticing some clear upgrades in many of their games. The focus was on The Opening, which is roughly the first 10 or so moves of the game. We didn't follow any particular opening sequences (which all have names and specific accompanying moves) , but concentrated on basic development of pieces, and a reminder to be castling early on. We will be learning some of the named openings as the weeks go on.
The remainder of Session 1 will be January 17th, 24th, and 31st, with a break for end of semester conferences that first week of February. Chess Club is for grades 2nd through 8th. Cost is $45 if enrolling for the remainder of Session 1, $20 for drop-ins, free for 8th graders. Please pack and extra snack/lunch for your child on that day.
Please email me at dustin.monda@siskiyouschool.org if you have any further questions, or for those who still need to pay for the Chess Club sessions from the fall. Thank you, Dustin Monda
