2nd Semester is in full swing and I am here for it! Our WYTOPP math scores have improved since the Fall interim and I cannot thank our Math department enough for their commitment to excellence!

We are so very lucky to have such and amazing and impactful staff here at Johnson. Our Firebirds are aquiring tools to be successful not just at Johnson but in life on the daily because of the compassion and dedication within them.

We are trying a new way to celebrate our stand out students and staff for our Quarter 2 Recognition.

We will be hosting our ceremonies during our WIN time next week. Tuesday morning, we will be honoring 7th grade and Thursday 8th grade. Parents and Guardians will be notified via Remind if their student will be receiving an award and are invited to come sit in our VIP section!

We will be recognizing:

1st Semester Honor Roll (3.0-3.49 GPA)

1st Semester High Honor Roll (3.5-4.0 GPA)

They meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00-4:00 in Room 92.

Details:

-$5 Admission

-Door sales close at 6PM. There will be no admittance after 6PM.
-Students will not be able to leave the dance and re-enter.
-Students must be picked up IMMEDIATELY following the Dance!

Dance requirements are as follows:

-No major Infinite Campus referrals in 3rd Quarter

-No more than 5 tardies total for the week of dance

-No failing grades for 3rd Quarter

-Meet Schoolwide expectations

-Dress Code Policy will be enforced

SPED Update:

We have been lucky enough to hire two more para professionals for our resource team. Please welcome to Ms. Kim and Ms. Jessica to our Firebird Staff.

Girls wrestling, in its first official season at Johnson, has started off on FIRE with multiple 1st and 2nd place finishes at various meets. Gianna Mordahl has been a standout in her weight class by not losing a single match and proving to be a force to reckon with in the years to come.

Boys' basketball has seen success at all levels by showing continual improvement and constant dedication to their sport. A huge shoutout to Coach Waters, the new head coach, for establishing a student-first philosophy and helping our students see the need for academics as well as athletics.

After multiple discussions with Johnson and South administration, we have decided to establish certain requirements surrounding attendance to South winter sporting events. We have updated this requirement to only include South High School sporting events.

This will be in effect until the end of the winter sports season at South

1. You must have a parent(s) with you to enter the game. They must stay with you for the duration of the event.
2. You may not have any ISS or OSS referrals for the past 2 weeks of school.
3. No re-entry allowed, once you are in, you are in, and when you leave you cannot come back into the gym area.
4. No backpacks
5. Starting in January, Johnson students will be required to show their ID when entering a South High winter sporting event.
