Jarrell ISD Monday Memo
February 24, 2025
At Jarrell ISD, we strive to create an innovative education environment that meets the needs of all students. State support and funding are crucial to achieving that goal. That's why, every legislative session, school districts across the state create a list of their legislative priorities.
Developed by our Board of Trustees, the priorities directly impact funding, resources, and policies that shape student success. Advocating for adequate state funding ensures we can provide quality education, support teachers, maintain facilities, and offer essential programs like special education and mental health services.
Among the district's priorities is funding. Public schools have not had an increase in the basic allotment per student since 2019. The $6,160 per student has stayed the same through three presidential administrations, a worldwide pandemic, and inflation.
Ultimately, the priorities help lawmakers understand the district's needs and work toward policies that benefit students, teachers, and schools. Below is the list of Jarrell ISD's Legislative Priorities for the 89th Texas Legislative session.
