This week's faculty/staff spotlight highlights Dr. Nolasco. Dr. Nolasco provides our students with engaging learning experiences that allow them to think critically and collaborate with peers. Students are able to articulate their learning and demonstrate understanding of the content.

In addition to teaching English, Dr. Nolasco also serves as our school's academic coach. In this role, Dr. Nolasco continues to provide valuable professional development opportunities for our staff. Thank you, Dr. Nolasco for the work you do!

All students are required to adhere to dress code expectations every day. As a reminder, students are not to wear leggings as uniform pant bottoms. Slippers, crocs, and slides are not allowed at anytime. Shorts and skirts cannot be shorter than three inches above the knee. Hats, caps, and hoods are not to be worn on the head while in the building. Bookbags must be clear or mesh.

Tops must be solid white, teal, or black. Tops may be polo-style shirts, collared blouses or turtlenecks.

Bottoms must be solid black or khaki shorts, skirts, skorts, jumpers, capri pants or pants/slacks

IHS Dress Code Expectations

With cooler weather upon us we want to ensure our Sharks are dressed for success. Dressing in layers and wearing warm clothing are great for low outdoor temperatures.

Reminder: Dress code expectations remain in place. Please note, wearing sweatpants as uniform bottoms is not allowed.

Students are expected to adhere to the school policy for dress down.

Tank/halter tops, pajamas, ripped/torn jeans/pants are not allowed. Skirts, dresses, and shorts must be fingertip-length or longer. Leggings must be worn under the appropriate length jumper, skirt, or dress. Leggings are not to be worn as outerwear or pant bottoms.

All shoes must be enclosed and fastened/tied properly. Slides, flip flops, slippers, and Crocs are not allowed at any time. No hats or hoods are to be worn on the head while in the building. Sunglasses are not to be worn in the building.

The Shark Senate and Sources of Strength are looking for all of the talent at Islands High School to audition for our annual talent show! Singing, dancing, monologues, playing an instrument, something else? We want to see and hear YOU!
