Join us on Monday, January 13 at 6:30 pm for an informative and important talk with Joanne Lescher, communication facilitator. Joanne will help us, as parents and caregivers, turn conversations into connections rather than disputes. Come learn tried and true techniques for getting (or keeping) the conversations going. This talk is intended for parents or guardians with children of all ages looking to support family communications throughout each stage of family growth and change.
Joanne Lescher has impacted the lives of countless families, couples, and individuals through her seminars, workshops, and counseling. The skills taught through the nonviolent communication model encourage anger management, create common ground, and promote effective listening skills. As a skilled presenter, trainer, mediator, and group facilitator, Joanne effectively models the skills needed to deal with conflict and to communicate compassionately. Her reputation has been affectionately summarized as "having the ability to tame lions."
Class 2 - Ms. Aguilar
The second grade is finishing their second math block of the year. Our ongoing story for the block follows Farmer MacGreggor and the squirrels who live in the nearby forest. The children help count his apples, sometimes losing some to worms and rot (or sneaky squirrels!), and help him count his coins after a successful day at market. Their Main Lesson books reflect this story with pages of careful subtraction and our first forays into adding with regrouping.
Despite a sickness lessoning our numbers throughout this block the second grade still has the most incredibly strong 'one voice'. The force behind their singing and rhythmic speaking fills the room as though we were a whole class each and every day. I look forward to each day with this incredible group for every minute is filled with laughter, joy, and learning.
Blessings on our school!
~ Ms. Aguilar
Our community classifieds are posted as a service to our Siskiyou School families and our broader community. Sublet Available
Hello! We have a wonderful kid friendly house close to the Siskiyou School just south of Ashland that we are looking to sublet from the end of December for up to six months. It sits on some acerage and is very relaxing and peaceful and a quick drive to town. We have 2 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms available and if needed, can also make an additional bedroom and a small office space open as well.
Our House comes with a cat- an amazing, loving, kind companion named Pumpkin- who you can enjoy as you would like or simply support her basic needs of getting in and out and being fed. She will be fine either way- she is independent and cuddly!.
This is our home, so we are only looking for a good fit and are flexible arrangements - maybe renting for less time for the right person, people, or family, who we feel good about.
Please reach out to us or share with anyone you trust who might be interested - Helaine.alon@gmail.com or 6175133536
