As you set up your classrooms, remember the library has posters you can check out to use to decorate your classroom. You just need to return them at the end of the year. You can also trade them out to refresh your decor throughout the year.

More teachers share their experiences with using the Right Question on the Teaching Channel.

Many examples are provided at various grade levels but there are two that cover the middle school curriculum. James Brewster, a middle school Social Science teacher from Texas, shares several ways he uses QFT with his students. Nicole Bolduc, a seventh-grade Science teacher, shares how she uses the QFT with NGSS. So if you need a little refresher or just some inspiration on how to get your students asking questions, check out The Right Question on the Teaching Channel or check out The Right Question Institute website. Both sites provide strategies the increase student engagement and thinking. You can join The Right Question Institute for free and have access to all their teaching resources.

Textbooks will be distributed through Math classes during the second week of school between Monday, August 19th through Friday, August 23rd. Students will be given all of their textbooks except for specialty courses such as Connections English, EL English, ELA Literacy, and Band. Teachers of these courses will bring their students to the library of Friday, if placement assessments have been completed.

All main textbooks should be distributed by Wednesday afternoon. If you have a student who does not have textbooks, ask the student who he/she has as a Math teacher. If that teacher hasn't had a textbook appointment yet, the student will get textbooks during the scheduled appointment. If the student missed the appointment with his/her Math class, send the student on a pass (EXCEPT DURING 4/5th PERIOD) at the end of a scheduled class WITH a barcoded schedule to get all their textbooks. PLEASE, do not send a student in advance of the scheduled Math appointment.
