WPC WEEKLY NEWS 3-5-25
POINTS FROM THE PRINCIPAL
- Read Across America: This Friday's theme day is to wear pajamas and bring a stuffy to school. Thank you to our PTO for bringing us another wonderful Book Fair. Don't forget, tomorrow night's Family Night! As part of this month's celebration of reading, special guests from throughout the town and district will be coming to read to the classes. It is my hope that as the adults in our students' lives that we set a good example and let our students catch us reading. Books and a love of reading bring families together. And let's face it, there is nothing better than looking at a child's face light up when you are reading to and with them!

AROUND THE CLASSROOMS
Mr. Dan's Class: This month students will be exploring weather concepts (sunny, cloudy, partly cloudy, rainy, windy, snowy, etc.) and rainbows! Many of the activities and crafts will include the colors of the rainbow (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet)
- Ms. Chambers' Class: This week in K-Ch students put together individualized Wevideos. Students each found short video clips of different three dimensional shapes and added them into the video stream. Then, students recorded their voices as they described the attributes of cones, cubes, spheres and cylinders. Finally they added a cool title that made the video look great. Who knew that math could be so much fun!
- Ms. Erin's Classs: The class always enjoy a Ralph surprise! Petting their favorite therapy dog is the perfect mid-morning pick-me-up.
Mrs. Abramov, School Library Media Specialist: As we celebrate Read Across America week, the children and I engaged in a conversation of celebrating diversity through the stories that I read. I read Todd Parr's Reading Makes You Feel Good. We learned a new word of the week, shelter. Then I shared Todd Parr's book called It's Okay To Be Different. We talked about how people are different, not just on the outside but also on the inside and what our needs are in life. Books help us learn important things about ourselves and others. There is always a reason to celebrate.
Happy Reading!
- Mrs. Meadows-Art/Music: Students studied Alma Thomas, a famous artist. See below for students' creative creations!
