EDUCATOR OF THE WEEK
Erin Gullekson and Katie McGuiggan are truly deserving of the honor of Educators of the Week! As a dynamic duo, they not only lead our fifth-grade students at South River School but also make an impact across the district. Their dedication to student learning and teacher growth is unmatched.
Both Erin and Katie have served as lab teachers for our ELA and Math curriculum adoptions, demonstrating their commitment to ensuring all students receive the best possible education. They are always seeking innovative ways to make learning come alive, bringing creativity and energy to their classrooms every day.
Recently, they transformed their hallway into a vibrant rainforest, where students created area and perimeter animals—seamlessly integrating math with their new reading program. This is just one example of how they go above and beyond to engage students in meaningful, hands-on learning experiences.
South River School is incredibly lucky to have Erin and Katie on our team. Their passion, dedication, and leadership make a lasting difference for both students and fellow educators!

MOSAIC
Greetings Marshfield Families and Community Members,
All Marshfield families and Community Members are invited to the first annual Marshfield Mosaic, which is set to take place on Thursday, March 27 from 6:00PM – 8:00PM in the Marshfield High School Gymnasium. The Mosaic celebrates the diverse cultures and heritages of our community by providing the opportunity for students, families, staff, and community members to bring food, music, and depictions (posters / photos) of the culture and the history that highlight their nationality. Each group will be provided with a table and tablecloth, and there are opportunities for families who need financial assistance in setting up their tables (for information on financial assistance, please email Joanie Pozerski at jpozerski@mpsd.org). All food must have a list of ingredients displayed. This event allows participants to visit the tables, and to learn about and celebrate the diverse cultures in our community. Enjoy live performances, music, raffles, and more!
If you are interested in being an exhibitor by having a table at this important and inaugural event please sign up by the end of the day, Thursday, March 13, 2025, by filling out the form found HERE. Whether you want to showcase your culture as an exhibitor or explore the many cultures that make Marshfield special, there is something for everyone. Please mark your calendar for this vibrant event!

DISTRICT-WIDE BELONGING TEAM
Our third Belonging Team Meeting took place Monday, March 3, 2025. We looked deeply at what is happening with belonging initiatives throughout the district and heard from some fabulous high school students who are starting a "Breaking Boundaries" club to work with elementary schools regarding social-emotional learning. We will continue to update the community on our progress. Here are some images from the third meeting:
SUPERINTENDENT'S STUDENT ADVISORY COUNCIL (SSAC)
Student voice in everything we do at Marshfield Public Schools is important and valued. To further student voice throughout the district, I am happy to announce the formation of the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council (SSAC). The SSAC meets with the Superintendent monthly, and Assistant Superintendents and other leaders (when they are available) to advise, to provide feedback, and to present viable solutions on District initiatives and programs.
Our first three meetings were wonderful. We began to formulate a student voice survey, created community agreements for our work, got to know each other better, and looked at the role of this important team. In our third meeting, with the high school and middle school students, we talked about our cell phone policies and the current implementation of those policies at the middle and the high school. In our fourth meeting, we talked about school pride and safety.
Great Learning Happening Throughout the District
Our Learning Walks this year will revolve around Deep Student Engagement, Task Development, and Learning Environment for Students. The District Leader established look-fors are inspired by Amy Berry and her book Reimagining Student Learning, From Disrupting to Driving. This is a multi-year focus, which will involve all stakeholders.
In a nutshell, we will focus on those elements in the classroom that move students from disrupting to driving learning, while also focusing on the development of strong tasks to engage the students within a culturally responsive climate that promotes inclusion.
These lookfors are being unwrapped at staff meetings across the district. This week was Read Across America Week and we engaged in learning walks of Martinson Elementary School.
This week was Read Across America Week!
Congratulations to MHS Drama for advancing to the semi-finals of Festival Competition!!!

MHS ATHLETICS
The Tournament Season has been an adrenaline rush as Teams continue to push on and unfortunately in some cases, seasons are coming to an end.
The Boys Basketball Team hosted Xaverian in the Round of 32 Division 1 Tournament. It was a very tightly contested contest right to the final buzzer with the Rams prevailing, 50 -47. The Rams led much of the way, but Xaverian would not go away. Senior Jake Brilliant, despite fouling out, scored some very important baskets as he has made all year. Junior Noah Feldman, returning from an injury that sidelined him for 3 weeks, led the Rams in scoring (13 points) in the win, followed closely by Junior Dan Padden (12 points). The Rams next took on #3 Seed Newton-North in the Sweet 16. Once again, the game came right down to the end. Marshfield, down by 5 points with 21 seconds to play in the 4th Quarter, forced Overtime. Senior Jake Brilliant hit a huge 3 pointer to get the Rams close. Tough defense forced a turnover, and the Rams converted for the tie heading to OT. Again, Marshfield refused to quit. Trailing by 7 early in Overtime, the Rams clawed their way back with seconds left on the clock and trailing by 3. Marshfield had a chance to force a 2nd Overtime, but this time their shot came up a little short and the Rams fell to Newton-North, 58-55. Senior Will Devine had a strong game for Marshfield coming off the bench with both scoring and defense.
The Girls Hockey Team hosted Sandwich in their Sweet 16 matchup in Division 2 Hockey. The Rams fell behind early but behind strong goaltending from Junior Morgan Murphy and timely scoring from Junior Sarah McIntyre and Senior Ali Melvin, propelled the Rams to the victory 2 – 1. The Rams had to kill 1:46 of a 2-man disadvantage with less then 5 minutes to go in the 3rd Period and did so successfully. The Rams then hosted archrival Duxbury in the Elite 8. The Rams lost and tied the Dragons in the regular season. The 3rd time was the charm for the Rams. In a Tournament classic, the Rams defeated Duxbury 2 – 1 in Overtime. Junior Morgan Murphy stopped 35/36 shots, many robbing goals from Duxbury players. Freshman Jill Parrell scored the 1st Rams goal. Ali Melvin scored the game winner in Overtime on a beautiful short side goal the Rams to the Final 4 for the second time in a row.
Congratulations to Sophomore Sophie Neumann and Senior Annie Spencer who have both qualified for the New England Regionals Gymnastics Championship taking place this Saturday. Sophie qualified on Vault and Annie qualified on Beam, Vault and Floor. Best of luck to both of them.
