EPIC APEX Fundraiser Totals
We are beyond excited to share the results of our APEX Fun Run fundraiser! Thanks to the incredible efforts of our students, families, and community, we raised just iver $53,000 to support our Millburn programs! 🎉
This was truly a team effort, and we could not be more proud of our students for their hard work and enthusiasm. We also want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the parents who helped with pledges, volunteered, and cheered on our runners – your support made all the difference!
All funds raised will go toward EPIC, directly benefiting our students and enhancing their learning experience.
Thank you again for your incredible support and participation. We couldn’t have done it without you!
Intruder Drill
We wanted to inform you that we successfully conducted our scheduled intruder drill today. Lake County Sheriff's Department was on hand to help us with the drill/ The safety and security of our students and staff are always our top priorities, and these drills help ensure that everyone knows the procedures to follow in the event of an emergency.
Our students did a great job, and we appreciate your support as we continue to practice and refine our safety protocols.
Parent/Teacher Conferences
- November 14: From 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM (with dismissal at 11:00 AM)
- November 15: From 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM (No school for students on this day)
Key points about Conferences:
- Sign-up: Teachers will send out a sign-up form on Friday, October 18th, allowing parents to choose a 20-minute time slot for one of these days.
- Encouragement for Participation: Parents are encouraged to meet with the teacher to discuss their child’s progress.
- Book Fair: The Media Center will host a book fair during the conferences.
- Joint Attendance for Separated/Divorced Parents: It’s important for both parents to attend the conference together, unless there are safety concerns or restraining orders. This ensures that both parents receive the same information. If needed, an administrator can attend to facilitate the meeting in cases where tensions may arise.
Fall MAP Testing Results
We wanted to inform you that the results of the recent NWEA MAP assessments will be sent via email on Monday, October 21. These results provide valuable insights into your child's academic growth in reading and math.
When reviewing the report, please keep in mind:
- The percentile shows how your child performed compared to national peers.
- The RIT score indicates your child’s current achievement level and helps track growth over time.
- This assessment helps teachers tailor instruction to meet your child’s unique needs.
If you have any questions about the results or would like to discuss them in more detail, please feel free to reach out to your child's teacher.
Art To Remember
Our school is participating in a creative fundraiser with Art to Remember that allows you to purchase keepsake products customized with your child's art. There are over 60 products and many are less than $20. These make great gifts and a percentage of every purchase goes right back to our school. Click on the link below and enter the online order code shown on your child's order form or to search for your child's artwork. Then, have fun shopping!

Are you moving out of district?
If your family is planning to move out of the school district, we kindly ask that you follow the steps below to ensure a smooth transition for your child(ren) as they move to a new school.
1. Notify the School
Please inform the school as soon as possible about your intent to move. This helps us prepare necessary documentation and ensure proper communication between schools.
2. Request Records
We will need to transfer your child’s academic records to their new school. Once you know which school your child will be attending, please provide us with the name and contact information for their new school, so we can forward their records promptly.
3. Return School Property
If your child has any school-issued items such as textbooks, library books, technology devices, or sports equipment, please make sure to return these items to the school before your departure.
4. Update Your Contact Information
Ensure that we have your most up-to-date contact information. This will allow us to reach you in case there are any follow-up questions or details regarding your child’s transition.
5. Confirm Withdrawal Date
Please provide us with the exact date of your child’s last day of attendance, so we can officially process their withdrawal.
We understand that moving can be both an exciting and challenging time for families. Our team is here to support your child(ren) and make this transition as seamless as possible. If you have any questions or need assistance, feel free to contact the school office.
Be Seen and Heard- Erin's Law
Erin’s Law, House Bill 6193 was signed by Governor Pat Quinn on January 24, 2013. This law requires schools to implement an age-appropriate sexual assault and abuse awareness and prevention curriculum for grades pre-K through 12. It is recommended that four communications a year on Erin’s Law be made available to all students.
Victor Pacini, a survivor of sexual abuse, author and motivational speaker, will be assisting our school in implementing this mandate. Mr. Pacini’s program is developmentally appropriate, interactive, and aligned with learning standards. The focus of his presentation is to teach children basic skills to keep them safe from dangerous or abusive situations. The concepts that will be discussed are:
Distinguishing safe from unsafe touches
Safety rules at home and school
Saying “NO”
Safe/Unsafe Secrets
It’s not the child’s fault if someone touches him or her
Telling a trusted adult
See below for video on what concepts will be covered for each grade level.
Mr. Pacini will be presenting at Millburn Elementary on Wednesday, November 6.
Requests to Opt-Out: If you prefer that your child opt-out of this prevention education session, please email your child’s classroom teacher.

Millburn Parent University
PARENT CONNECTIONS through a Parent University Series
We have already had opportunities for parents to connect with staff at the start of the school year, and an opportunity this week for parents to connect with other parents. It is important for our community to connect with each other in various ways to create a support network as we bring up our kids toward adulthood. The PARENT U series is another opportunity to connect throughout the year! Please consider taking part in as many of these opportunities as possible! Save the dates and times in this LINK, and watch for more details as the year progresses.
