Dear Families,
I want you to know that our 6th grade student body is our Quarter One Champions of PRMS.
Every quarter a grade level team will be awarded by achieving the following the criteria:
1. Attendance: Our building goal is to have our average daily attendance for the year 97%. We achieved an ADA of 95.2% for quarter one.
2. Grades: We are looking for the grade level team with the highest percentage of A/Bs. Our building percentage was 65%. I would like this number to move to 70% or higher.
3. Behavior: We are looking for the grade level team that has the least amount of office referrals.
Congratulations to our 6th grade team for being our Champions. Your leadership is making a difference. We will be rewarding them with a party during the school day soon.
We will determine the next winner after 2nd quarter ends.

ACADEMIC BUS
ACADEMIC BUS Students needing extra help must have permission from a teacher to stay in their classroom. Students are only allowed to stay if they are working with and have permission from a teacher. The academic bus will run on Tuesdays and Thursdays and leave PRMS around 4:15 PM. This bus will make limited stops, so be sure to CLICK HERE for available bus stops.

Student passes are set up so only one pass can be purchased per student per school year.
Family Passes are set up for 4 immediate family members per pass including one active middle school student.

FIRST STUDENT BUS INFORMATION
Transportation enrollment for the 2024/2025 school year will begin on June 1 and run through July 26. There is an Early Bird discount if your form and payment are received by July 5 (see the Transportation Enrollment Information page for details about fees). Forms of payment are credit card, check, or money order. Currently, payment can be made in person at the First Student office, by phone, or online at https://firstgroupgardner.revtrak.net/.

The enrollment form is a PDF you can complete, save, and email to First Student. You can submit your form by saving a copy of the completed PDF and emailing it to usd231transportation@firstgroup.com, or you can drop it off at our office (19450 S. Gardner Road). Please note that this email is only monitored for enrollment forms; please do not send other correspondence through this email.

We are writing to share the inclement weather procedures and where to locate information as it relates to school closings.
In the event USD 231 closes school due to inclement weather or other school-related closures, the information is communicated as soon as the decision is made in the following ways:

- Local television stations (ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC)* Please know we are at the mercy of these stations as to whether or not they relay the information. There have been instances when the district has provided information, and the news station did not get it posted.

Our district, in cooperation with the Gardner Edgerton Schools Foundation, has been on the ground floor of a new way to support Pioneer Ridge Middle School through an innovative company called GiveBack2Schools. Here is the good news – it doesn’t require spending extra money, selling something, or adding events to your packed calendar.
Dozens of area businesses have pledged a percent of every purchase to go back to the school group(s) of your choice. See some of the businesses below.
By downloading the phone app and following the directions provided, our school will receive easy money. You can select what group within our school you want the funds to go toward (i.e., grade level, activity group).

Parents: If you have a student who will be taking scheduled medications during the school day, a new physicians order will be necessary. It should include the students name, date of birth, medication name, dosage, and time to be given. Call 913-856-3809 to schedule an appointment to drop off the medications with the nurse.
