Art with Ms. Katzin
Northwood artists have been working on their artwork for our Art to Remember fundraiser. Kindergarteners made hearts, first graders made flower pots, second graders made flowers, third graders made sun/moon designs, fourth graders made animals and fifth graders made succulent pots. You will have the opportunity to purchase a variety of products featuring your child’s artwork like magnets, mugs, keychains, and more! There are over 60 products and many are less than $15. These make great gifts and a percentage of every purchase goes right back to our school. Be on the lookout for an order form sent home with your child within the next couple of weeks or click on the link below to search for your child's artwork.
Northwood Explorers to welcome the Centennial Knights
During carpool and bus drop off next Friday, October 21st, our Northwood Explorers will be greeted by members of the Centennial Knights football and cheerleading teams. We're excited to welcome them to campus as a way to show our support for our feeder high school! Staff and students are encouraged to wear Centennial gear or colors (royal blue, black, white) that day. The Knights will play away at North Springs High School the evening of the 21st.

Device Deployment Update for Parents of Third, Fourth, and Fifth Graders
As we receive our devices from the district, we are beginning to distribute one-to-one devices to our students in grades 3, 4 and 5 beginning October 19th. Students in 3rd grade will receive their laptop next week with 4th and 5th grade following shortly after. The device will be checked out to your child for his/her use for school related tasks. Students are expected to bring their laptop home each night to work on homework, iReady and other school assignments. Please be sure to review the Device User Agreement in the Parent Portal and electronically sign off if you have not done so already. You access this agreement the same way you access the Code of Conduct. The device user agreement is also linked at the bottom of this newsletter should you want to review it that way.
Please be sure to do the following to ensure that your child’s device is in good condition throughout the year.
- Make sure that your child shuts the laptop down each night when finished.
- Be sure that your child charges his/her laptop each night so it is ready for school use the following day.
- Talk with your child about proper care of the laptop including: using the device for school related tasks only, handling the laptop, carrying the laptop safely, not having food/drinks near the laptop, etc.
- Please make sure that your child’s laptop is safe in his/her backpack when traveling to school. If you have a laptop sleeve feel free to use it as it will provide extra protection!
Please don’t hesitate to reach out to Mrs. Bauer or Ms. Evangelista with any questions. Thank you for your continued support.

STUDENT CODE OF CONDUCT – REQUIRED FOR ALL STUDENTS
Non-Academic Skills to Show on Report Cards
Fulton County is now requiring teachers to include comment codes for four areas of non-academic skills: self-direction, collaboration, problem solving, and work habits. These scores do not affect the student average for the class.
Please know that a "C" code on this is not a "C" grade but rather stands for "Consistently" which is good. Other codes include "O" = Often, "S" = Sometimes, and "R" = Rarely. You should expect to see these marks across your child's classes.
First quarter grades will be visible in the Parent Portal on October 14, 2022. Please see more information in the graphic below describing the skills.

Don't forget to tell them to smile!
Have You Joined Infinite Campus Parent Portal?
The Infinite Campus Parent Portal provides quick and easy access to information for all enrolled students in their household. Find grades, attendance, assignments, schedules, ID numbers, school announcements and more. If you haven't already joined, please do so today as Fulton County Schools is transitioning to managing everything via the portal.
For more information, access the Parent Portal Booklet for Infinite Campus here.
MISSING SOMETHING?
Parents, please encourage your students to check regularly for lost items in the Lost and Found. Please mark all student belongings clearly with the child’s name so that it can be identified. Unclaimed items are donated to local charities after the last school day of every month. October’s date is Monday, October 31st.
