We hope everyone had a restful and enjoyable Thanksgiving break. Our students returned ready to dive back into learning and have been working incredibly hard this week! We were thrilled to kick off our return with an exciting STEAM Day, where students explored hands-on activities that sparked creativity and curiosity.

Looking ahead, we are eagerly anticipating our very first STEAM Career Day, happening next Friday, December 13th! This event will be an incredible opportunity for students to connect with professionals across various STEAM fields, and we are so excited to have some of our very own parents as presenters. We can't wait to share all the highlights from this amazing day with you!

As a friendly reminder, we kindly ask that you leave pets at home during drop-off and pick-up times, as dogs are not permitted on campus. Thank you for helping us maintain a safe and comfortable environment for all students and families.

Cross Country:

The Sierra Verde Cross Country Team had an amazing Meet last night at Diamond Canyon. Boys took 1st place and Girls took 2nd!!!! The XC Championship (like the SUPER BOWL) is on Saturday at Boulder Creek High School starting at 9:10 for the Girls and Boys will follow at 9:20. Both teams are eager to win 1st place!!! We can't wait to hear how they finish! Way to represent SV! We are so proud of the athletes and know they will give their all!

Volleyball:

Volleyball has their first game at West Wing Thursday night and they are ready for the win. The athletes are playing hard and have improved a ton!

Baseball:

We have a parent/athlete surprise on Wednesday, Dec. 11th at 3:30pm in Mrs. Copenhaver's Room! We will post pictures of the surprise in the next S'more!

Basketball & Cheer:

If your student would like to try out for basketball or cheer, please make sure to get Physicals done and uploaded into the Register My Athlete site. Try outs will be here before we know it: Feb. 18th!

This week with the help of the community, the PTSO funds and a Match Day, we were able to fund 2 Donors Choose Projects!

We fulfilled $917.81 dollars for Mrs. Orr and $2,929 for Ms. Scofield. Thank you to everyone that donated!

This Tuesday, December 10th is Restaurant DAY at Kawaii on Deer Vally. SV will earn 20% of dine-in, take out AND gift cards! If you can't make it there for lunch or dinner, grab a gift card for the holidays!

• If your student is going to be absent for any reason, please call our attendance line at (623) 376-4890
• All 1st-8th grade students should be dropped off in the front traffic loop, parking in the lot is reserved for Kindergarten parents only. It is also not permissible to park and cross Rose Garden or 74th Ave at any point other than our crosswalks.
• 8:45 is the start of our academic day, kids who are not in class at 8:45 will need a tardy pass.
• We cannot sign students out after 3:15.
• Do not text your students during the school day, phones are available for use at the office with staff permission.
• We will not interrupt instruction to relay messages or deliver items left at home (unless medically needed)
• Attendance warnings will be sent home for students who are absent more than 10% of days in session or who have accumulated 5+ tardies
• If you have a concern or question regarding progress, grades, or behavior, address the classroom level teacher per our DVUSD Problem Solving Guidance
• School staff and administration are not available to meet on demand, appointments will be made to set up meetings or phone calls for administrators and teachers. Walk-in appointments are not an option.
• SV teachers adhere to an email curfew. They will check emails Monday - Friday from 7:00 AM to 8:30 AM and 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM only.
• SV staff will respond to emails within 48 hours, excluding weekends & holidays.
• Open Enrollment for the 25/26 school year begins November 1st at 8:00 AM!

For the 24-25 school year, we will once again be charging for school meals, to apply for a free or reduced meal application visit https://secure.ezmealapp.com or stop by Sierra Verde for a paper application (though the online process is much quicker). DVUSD has a birthday bucket order form that will be the only method of birthday treats for 24-25. You can fill out an application for a birthday bucket and work with our Cafeteria Manger Mrs. Debbie Jasperson to arrange these birthday treats. The Birthday Bucket application is on our homepage and is linked below as well.

In order to keep meal account balances topped off, you can put money on the student account with cash or check at the front office, drop off cash or check in the office, or use E-Z school pay. EZ School pay also has an app available to download and track your balance.

A birthday bucket is the perfect way to celebrate your student(s) birthday safely!
