October 21&22- Screenings with Reach for Speech for Preschool ages.

Oct 31st- Halloween parties for the whole Day School. Oct 30th Preschool 4-year-old class has their party.

Our teacher spotlight this month is Shana Wansitler, our new preschool assistant teacher!

"Hello families and Friends! My name is Miss Shana. I've been a preschool teacher since January and have been pursuing an associate's degree in early childhood education full time since June of 2023. I will graduate in 2025. When I'm not with your kids, I am with my own. I have two boys who are 10 & 4 years old. So I understand how it is to be on the other side of the school setting. In my free time I enjoy hiking, painting, camping, and crocheting. I look forward to teaching your children and creating healthy bonds and relationships with you and your children."

Miss Lilly organized our Community Helpers Day. She gathered the Cory PD, VFD, Valley Ambulance and Mayor Dixon to come in. We talked about questions ahead of time with the preschool classes and we had some interesting ones! Does the Mayor rule Coraopolis? How do you catch a robber? Where do you get water to put out a fire? Are EMTs the same as doctors? Does a K9 make a good family pet? We learned a ton!

We are hosting a cereal drive for the Coraopolis Food Pantry! Our goal is 200 boxes. This is how many they need for one service! These food items go directly to the immediate community. Cereal is an especially important item at the food pantry. It can be eaten dry and requires no cooking, making it extremely easy if needed.

Miss Mary and Miss Lilly are attending the craft show again this year. We will be dressed as Mike and Sully from Monsters Inc.

Thank you to all the volunteers that are making baked goods for us to sell! Ya'll are amazing!

While you are in Cory, check out all the awesome stuff going on with the fall festival. The train station is open, there is a gallery walk, and different businesses have all kinds of things going on. All the kid's activities will be in the parking lot by Zuko's Pizza and the activities are FREE!!

Flyers and order sheets have been sent home. We would really appreciate your support in fundraising! Orders are due Oct 22! Miss Lilly and I will also be taking orders at the craft show.

The board of directors is currently working on grant applications to secure money for improvements, staff compensation, and maintenance of the day school. We are hoping to secure money and avoid increasing tuition in the near future. We hoped that the state government would recognize the importance of funding for staff retention and recruitment. Since that has not happened, we are looking to different avenues of funding. We know that the cost of childcare can be a burden to parents. We are trying to slow that burden down. We care about our families so much!
