As we prepare for interim assessments the week of November 18-22, we want to inform our community that we will not be offering tutoring or our homework lab services on these 5 days. Tutoring and our homework lab will resume on Monday, December 2nd.
Your child’s safety is our priority, and we need your help to make sure we can best provide that after school. After School, we have fewer adults available to help monitor to keep our campus safe for our students; therefore, once students have left the building, they are not allowed back in. No exceptions.
If your child attends practice, meetings, or any activities after School, it is important that you help us communicate to your child to not leave the building and report as soon as possible to their teacher/coach/sponsor so all students are accounted for. In addition, if a parent/guardian needs to drop off food or something else for their child, we ask that you please park and walk up to our front doors where your child can safely meet with you.
Please help us by reminding your child to be sure they have all their items including sports equipment, gym bags, instruments, etc., before they exit the building, as they will not be allowed back in.
In addition, it is important that your child has a clear understanding of how they will be getting home. If students are walking home, they must do so immediately after school. Students are not allowed to hang around or return after leaving campus. Please help us by communicating your expectations to your child of how they will get home.
If your child is staying for tutoring, we ask that they have arrangements to get picked up from our campus at 4:30 pm. Students with loss of credit may begin completing their hours, they will need an LOC log to document and track their hours. Once the form is completed and signed, please turn this into Assistant Principal Elizabeth Saucedo.
We wanted to remind our Stallion community about our cell phone/ear pods policy. Our policy states:
- Cell phones must be TURNED OFF at 7:45 a.m. and should remain off during the entire instructional/afterschool tutoring portion of the school day. Any cell phone out and visible during the school day including lunch time will be confiscated and must be picked up at school by a parent, regardless of how or if the student is using the phone.
- 1st Offense: Phone will be confiscated. Parents may pick it up on Friday after 3:15 p.m.
- 2nd Offense: & any time after: Phone will be confiscated. Parent may pick it up after school Friday a $15 fine is paid as per SISD Board Policy on the second offense and any offense thereafter.
When visiting our campus, it is important to bring an ID to request approval for entering our school building. Our campus is safe and secure and it provides our students a safe and supportive learning environment. Once you ring the door bell, you will be attended to by our receptionist over the door bell intercom system. You will be asked to state the purpose for your visit. If approved, our receptionist will be able to buzz you in to enter the front desk receptionist area. Note that any family member not listed on the students demographics will not be approved to visit with our Stallion scholar. A campus administrator is always available to assist you and your family. Our school office hours are Monday thru Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm. If you have any questions, please contact us at 915.937.5400.
Stallion scholars make sure you are arriving on time, taking attendance for each class and actively participating. Our goal as a campus is 97% and above. Stallions, if you have any questions in regards to attendance, please reach to your teachers or our campus PEIMS attendance specialist, Ms. Amber Barajas at 915.937.5400.
Respectfully,
Brandon Rios

Perfect Attendance At Slider
Staying ahead of your Average Daily Attendance (ADA)
Our goal each week is to maintain a 96% attendance rate. It is extremely important to remember after 17 absences for yearlong courses, 8 absences for fall semester courses and 9 absences for spring semester courses, a student will lose credit for the class and must make up the time.
Reporting absences to Slider Middle School
Please report your child’s absence to attendanceslider@sisd.net
Include the following information when reporting the absence:
· Child’s name
· ID number
· Grade
· Reason for absence
All notes are collected via email or Skyward parent portal, please include details of when your child will return to school.
Each student was given a BINGO card to complete each day they are at school all day. The following students have completed their first set BINGO cards for attendance:
Layla Escobar – 6th Grade
Alessandra Ortega – 7th Grade
Average Daily Attendance (ADA)
It is extremely important for students to attend school each day. Average Daily Attendance is reported to the state daily for students who are in attendance at 9:36 am. This is considered our golden period. The state also holds campus administration and parents accountable for student’s daily attendance through all periods. Students who exceed nine absences will lose credit for class, even though they may have passed the course, and are subject to attend truancy court. Warning letters are sent at the fifth absence.
The chart below shows our daily attendance for last week and year to date average:
Week of October 28th through November 1st
6th grade 94.53%
7th grade 92.47%
8th grade 93.37%
Year to date ADA= 95.2%
Our goal is to be above 96% year to date attendance. Attendance improvement goes out to 6th and 7th grade…keep up the good work Stallions! Please stay healthy and be at school every day.
Yesterday, we also started the STALLIONS race for each grade level to be given the opportunity to have a free dress day once they completed the words “STALLIONS” by meeting the daily attendance goal of 96%. The percentages for yesterday were as follows:
6th 96.01%
7th 96.39%
8th 93.10%
Way to go 6th and 7th grade!!!!!! Their letters have been added to the bulletin board by the front desk and are on their way to a free dress day.
