November Design Principle: Service and Compassion
"Those who are happiest are those who do the most for others."
~Booker T. Washington
Hello Glennwood Families,
We have had a great week at Glennwood! I want to remind everyone about several activities scheduled tomorrow, our last day before Thanksgiving Break. In addition to it being the last Walk and Roll of 2024, it is also an Early Release Day with students dismissing at 12:50 p.m.
We will also have our first Winter Performance with second grade beginning at 8:30 a.m. Students have worked hard with Ms. Pierce in music class to prepare a lovely program for families. We hope you will join us.
Lastly, we have a Parent Coffee Chat immediately following the performance in the LINKS classroom from 9:15-10:00 a.m. Ms. Parker, part of our counseling team, will be leading a talk on "Discussing Diagnosis with Kids."
STAR Early Literacy, Reading and Math Assessments: December 2-6 and 9-13
After Thanksgiving Break, K-12 students will take the STAR Early Literacy, Reading and Math Assessments during the winter assessment screening period of December 2-6 and December 9-13. CSD measures results from this winter assessment screening period against results from the previous fall screening period to track growth and adjust instruction to best meet students' individual needs. These assessments are crucial for ensuring your child's continued success.
Families may use these directions to opt-in to receive the results of the STAR assessments upon completion. For questions, please contact our testing coordinator, Summer Clayton at sclayton@csdecatur.net
I hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving Break. I am grateful for this wonderful Glennwood Community.
Warmest regards,
Holly Brookins, Ph.D
Principal
