TSD Family Updates

This week we welcomed our preschool and kindergarten students. Kindergarteners are the future Class of 2037!!! For those with older children, it may just feel like yesterday when your student started school. There were all sorts of emotions flowing from excitement and joy to tears and trepidation. Here’s to a fantastic start of the year as we look forward to all that will be learned and achieved throughout the year.

You're invited to the TSD 5th Grade Band/Orchestra Info Night (Virtual) Tuesday Sept 17th 6:30-7:15 pm. Learn more about beginning band/orchestra. Learn what instruments they can choose. Find out what your student needs. Meet the music teachers. Find out where you can rent instruments. Learn how to help your student succeed. HUGE thanks to our Transportation staff and bus drivers for their hard work and commitment to getting our students to school on time! We are happy to share the news that we we had 0 scheduled late routes again this week.

The Transportation Team has also been sorting through some issues such as construction, midday route scheduling, etc., and will continue to address the remaining challenges head-on.

Our first class of the 2024-2025 school year with local counselor/parent educator, Candyce Lund-Bollinger, will be held virtually on September 24th from 6:00-8:00 pm. The topic for this session-Middle School Development. We will provide a Zoom link to pre-register and receive the handout of information before the sessions. We hope to see you there!

Thanks to the generosity of our community, we have backpacks full of school supplies available at each of our schools. If this would be helpful for your student(s), please drop by your child's school office to pick up a backpack of supplies.

Please join us on Saturday, September 21st from 12-3 pm at Michael T. Simmons Elementary School, 1205 2nd Ave SW for the Kids Closet Clothing Bank Giveaway. This is for families with children of all ages who live in our Tumwater SD community. This giveaway provides gently used clothing of all sizes available. Please bring your own bag.
