Spring Testing: M-STEP & PSAT
The Michigan Student Test of Educational Progress (M-STEP) and PSAT will be administered this spring. The M-STEP, which is entering its 8th year as the official state assessment, will include summative assessments designed to measure student growth in various subject areas. All students in grades 6-8 will be assessed in English-Language Arts and mathematics. Eighth grade students will also be assessed in science and social studies. The PSAT replaces the M-STEP English-Language Arts and mathematics assessments in 8th grade. 8th grade students will continue to take the M-STEP science and social studies assessments. Spring testing is scheduled to begin in mid-April. More information and details will be provided as the testing window approaches.

8th Grade Academy Amusement Park
Mrs. Merrill’s 8th-grade Academy students recently showcased their understanding of potential and kinetic energy by designing roller coasters for an amusement park display. The project emphasized key criteria such as height, track length, safety, thrill-seeking, and creativity.
Students also needed to create a budget for how much their roller coaster would cost to build and describe what their favorite part of their coaster was and why. The students invited guests to join in on their roller coaster fun by presenting their creations to the spectators for judgement day. This hands-on experience not only engages students but also fosters critical thinking and collaboration.
Please check out some of the cool creations...

SEXTING—Think Before You Send
Texting is one of the many ways that cell phones and the internet have made it easier for people to stay in touch and share news and ideas. Sexting means sharing sexually explicit text messages or sexual photos or videos of yourself or others using a cell phone or internet. Sharing includes sending, receiving, or forwarding inappropriate content. Not only is this unsafe, but also it is illegal! Privacy is not guaranteed and it may be shared by others. A sext can cause embarrassment and humiliation by accident or on purpose. The images or texts can stay online forever and can cause bullying, harassment, attract sexual predators, and lead to legal prosecution by the police. If it happens at school, your child may face consequences such as suspension or expulsion. If you or your child are sent such messages or images, please advise them: don’t respond, don’t pass it on, and do tell a trusted adult! Please discuss this important issue with your child.
Armada Middle School’s National Junior Honor Society
Gives Thanks to Local Law Enforcement
At Armada Middle School, we believe in the power of gratitude and service. Our National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) recently demonstrated this by putting together thankful bags for our hardworking police officers and support staff. With the guidance of Mrs. Maniscalco and the generous support of Thrivent, a grant-giving organization, our NJHS members assembled these special bags as a small token of appreciation for those who serve and protect our community.
Each bag was thoughtfully packed and accompanied by hand-signed, thank-you cards, ensuring that our local law enforcement knows how much they are valued. This project was a meaningful way for our students to give back, recognize the sacrifices of our officers, and express the community’s deep gratitude.
A huge thank you to Mrs. Maniscalco for her leadership, Thrivent for their generosity, and to all the NJHS members who dedicated their time and effort to making this project a success. We are incredibly proud of our students for embracing the spirit of service and appreciation.
Together, we are making a difference—one act of kindness at a time! #ArmadaProud #NJHS #ThankYouOfficers
