Raz - Kids:
Dear Robertson Families,
We are lucky to have a wonderful new online reading program called RAZ-Kids starting January 2020! This is a program that we will be using at school but you also have the opportunity to use it at home as well. This program is unique in that it provides reading text aligned to your child’s reading level. The more your child reads, the farther they will advance to higher reading levels. RAZ-Kids also operates through an app, so you and your child can access this reading opportunity with a phone.
Program Overview
· Your child’s teacher will assign your child to a reading level online based on their performance in the classroom.
· Your child needs to earn a check-mark for each of the symbols that are located under each book. (Ear, eye and question mark.)
· Your child earns “stars” for each check-mark that they earn. Near the top of the page you will find a tab labeled, RAZ -Rocket. This is a pretend space themed area where students can “buy” items for their RAZ -Rocket room using the stars that they earned for reading.
· Once a child earns a check-mark for all symbols, they automatically will be advanced to the next level of books.
Example: If your child starts on a level C book and they earn a check-mark for each book, they automatically will be moved to the level D library.
Your child’s teacher will provide each student with login information that can be used to access RAZ-Kids from home. This informational sheet also has instructions for parents/guardians to gain access to the Parent Tab on RAZ-Kids. You will receive progress monitoring emails and RAZ-Kids information.
The name of the app is: Kids A-Z
The app is available on: App Store, Google play & Amazon Apps.
