Reviewing Distance Learning
Some of our students are able to function in this new learning environment quite well, however, there are some who are struggling to have a successful work-from-home experience. To help your child have success, please:
Be sure to have internet available with a functioning Chromebook or alternative computer resource.
Designate a study-space with a set study-time and schedule for your child in an open family setting (not in their rooms on their beds, or next to their Xbox) that is free from distractions (e.g. no phones, gaming consoles, iPads, other computers, siblings, etc.)
Check-in at the beginning of each day and ask questions about what goals your child will accomplish for that day. Students may benefit from an assignment board or list to help them stay productive.
Follow up at the end of each day to check on what skills or content was worked on and the progress of the goals your child has set.
Log in to Chalkable regularly to ensure your child is completing the assignments due and turning them in.
Be sure your child gets adequate rest to ensure they are fully able to engage during their shortened class periods.
Please remember, because students are not physically in class and are not visible on Zoom, it's important that they are participating in discussions and answering questions when prompted. Students who don't participate may receive zeros or counted as absent if the teacher calls on them and they do not respond.
Check Chalkable
With the understanding that this is a new way of learning, it's important that you are checking on your child's grades every week. If you have forgotten your Chalkable login, please let me know as soon as possible so I can reset it, and you can stay on top of your child's progress.
