Dear Lewiston-Porter Families, Students, and Staff,
I hope everyone is enjoying an exciting and spirited Homecoming Week on campus! Seeing the Lancer spirit alive and well throughout our community has been fantastic. As we continue celebrating, I want to remind you that Homecoming Week is in full swing, with several key events still to come:
Homecoming Week Events
These events are a great way to celebrate our Lancer pride, and I encourage everyone to participate and show their school spirit!
5-Week Mark for 2024-25 School Year
Additionally, I’d like to remind students and families that Friday, October 4th, marks the conclusion of the 5th week of school. As we reach this critical milestone in the school year, some students may encounter challenges in certain subjects. Please remember that we offer multiple opportunities for academic support during and after the school day. If your child needs assistance in any course, don’t hesitate to contact their teacher or school counselor. Our staff is carefully monitoring student progress and will proactively offer help when needed, but we also encourage students and families to ask for support whenever necessary.
Elementary World Language Program
I am also pleased to announce that our elementary Chinese language program will begin next week. We will offer Chinese language classes for elementary students at the Intermediate Education Center (IEC) on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:40 PM - 4:30 PM and at the Primary Education Center (PEC) on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00 AM - 8:50 AM. Additionally, we offer Spanish language instruction to elementary students through our Community Education program at both the PEC and IEC. At Lewiston-Porter, we are proud to stay at the cutting edge of world language offerings and global learning opportunities.
Remote Learning for School Closure
As we head into the fall season with changing weather, I want to remind families that on inclement weather days, Lewiston-Porter will not close. Instead, we will move to a remote learning option for that day. Remote learning schedules will be tailored by school, grade level, and building, with individual teachers communicating that information as needed. This approach allows us to maintain scheduled recess days throughout the school year, ensuring families can plan for those days in advance.
LP Alumni Association/Raby Family 5K
Finally, we remind all school community members that the Lewiston-Porter Alumni Association will host its annual Raby Family 5K Cross Country Run and Walk on Saturday, October 19th at 10:00 am on our beautiful Cross Country course (behind the Middle School and IEC). Details for the race and registration information can be found at Buffalo Runners. Please come out and support this great fundraising event
That’s all for now. Enjoy the rest of Homecoming Week, and as always, Go Lancers!
Sincerely,
Paul J. Casseri
