A few words from Mr. Jelks...
Dear LIS Families,
As we approach the final three weeks of the school year, I want to thank you for your continued support and involvement in our school community. Please read through the news letter for dates and times of upcoming events.
Additionally, we ask that you take a moment to stop by the school and check the lost and found for any missing items. Our collection has grown significantly, and we hope to reunite these belongings with their owners before the summer break.
Thank you for your cooperation and support. We look forward to seeing you at these upcoming events as we celebrate the end of another wonderful school year.

Ladysmith Intermediate School presents...
AIR Band
LIS presents its 2nd annual AIR BAND!!!
On Monday, June 24th in the LIS gym, for one evening show starting at 7:00, we are having a choreographed lip sync challenge of epic proportions! Students have chosen songs from a playlist of 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s and 2010s music!
Enjoy lip-synced dance performances? We have those! Looking for lip-synced band performances with electric guitars, keyboard and drums (well… at least pretending we’re playing the instruments)? We have those too!
Come join us for a fun night of music and air-band-awesomeness as our students perform some of the decades’ greatest hits for you! (I mean, kind of….it IS Air Band after all.)
Ticket order forms will be sent home on Friday, June 14th (once auditions are over and the final list of bands that will perform is set) to get seats for the evening show. Tickets will be sent home on Friday, June 21st.
Rock on!!!

Summer Reading Club officially starts on July 2. Families can register by picking up a special package at their local library starting on June 18. The package includes a reading record to track reading, stickers, and other fun items. www.virl.bc.ca/src )

Attendance
We ask parents/guardians to call the school before 9:00 am at (250) 245-3351 or email Info.LI@sd68.bc.ca to notify the school of your child’s absence. Please follow up with a note to your child’s teacher when your child returns to school so the teacher can address any missed work, homework issues, etc. Also a reminder that if students need to leave early, they should be signed out in the main office.
School Closure
The following is a reminder about the NLPS school closure procedure for students.
If schools are closed due to snow, or any other weather-related problems, announcements will be made on local radio stations (WOLF 106.9 FM, WAVE 102.3 FM, and 91.7 COAST FM) by 7 a.m., or earlier, on the day of the closure. Please do not call the radio station – tune in and listen for the announcements, which will be made on a regular basis.
In addition, the district will post the information on the district’s website, Twitter, Facebook, and mobile app. Families may also receive a message through the School Messenger notification system via phone, email, or text. Please keep in mind, however, that there may be situations where this is not always possible, for example, power outages or technical problems. The most reliable method is to listen to the local radio stations.
