Elementary Highlights
Congratulations to Our 5th & 6th Grade Band Students!
We want to extend a big congratulations to our 5th and 6th grade band students on their excellent performance at Wednesday’s spring concert! It was truly impressive to see the growth they’ve made from the beginning of the year to now—their hard work and dedication were clear in every note.
A heartfelt thank you to our band director, Billy Taylor, for his guidance, patience, and passion for music education.
Participation in music not only nurtures creativity—it also supports academic success, building skills in focus, discipline, and teamwork. We’re proud to offer strong music opportunities as part of our well-rounded education.
Elementary Fun Run - June 12th
We’re excited for our annual Fun Run on Wednesday, June 12, starting at 9:00 AM! This is always a great event that brings our school community together, and families are welcome to join in the fun.
Students will begin at the fields on Brommer Road, and we’ll walk/run back to school as a group. Families who wish to attend may meet us directly at the fields. Please note: only adults who have completed a background check may ride the bus with students and subject to availability.
After the Fun Run, we’ll celebrate with a BBQ lunch at school. Lunch is free for all PreK–6th grade students as part of their regular school meal. Adults are welcome to join us for lunch, but must RSVP in advance and pay before June 12. Shirts will not be available for purchase this year.
Elementary Field Day – June 6th
We’re looking forward to a full day of outdoor fun during our Elementary Field Day! This all-day event will be held outside, so please help your child be prepared for a safe and enjoyable day.
Here’s how you can help:
Dress your child for the weather – layers are a great idea!
Apply sunscreen and bug spray at home before coming to school.
Make sure your child wears comfortable shoes for running and playing.
Send a water bottle labeled with your child’s name to help them stay hydrated.
Elementary Talent Show - June 13 @ 8:30 a.m. in Smith Gym (Please email reardanpie@gmail.com if interested in participating.)
Elementary students cheer on high school athletes headed to state track by forming a send-off tunnel—full of high-fives, signs, and school pride!
Middle School Highlights
As we look toward June I would like to thank the middle school parents for their support this year. I am so proud of the growth these students have shown, both academically and socially. Thank you parents for partnering with us!
Field Trips: Mrs. Ray and I have run into a snag in our plans for end of the year field trips–transportation is not able to accommodate all of our plans, but I am working on an all middle school trip and we are jointly planning a StayCation Fun Day for Tuesday and Wednesday, June 10th and 11th. Stay tuned for more information via recorded phone call.
Eighth grade promotion is set for Thursday, June 12th at 6 pm in the HS Gym. Ms. Koch and Mrs. O’Rourke gave letters to 8th grade students today, so check those backpacks for an informational letter with everything you need to know about 8th grade promotion.
Students are working hard to finish the year strong–check out the effort in 7th grade PE class and 8th grade Woodshop!
High School Highlights
Dear parents,
The yearbooks are in and are ready for distribution to High Schoolers next week. The yearbooks are $50 and can be purchased at the High School office. A lot of effort has gone into this yearbook this year, and it will be a great keepsake of the 2024-2025 year. To reserve a yearbook, please email anurvic@Reardansd.net or amclaughlin@reardansd.net for payment and pickup instructions.
Over half of our yearbooks have been sold already. Get your student's yearbook before they're all gone!
Thanks,
The 24/25 Yearbook Staff

A Night to Remember – Reardan Band Concert
Our recent band concert was nothing short of spectacular! From powerful performances to heartfelt melodies, our talented student musicians truly put on an unforgettable show.
A huge thank you to Mr. Taylor, whose passion, dedication, and leadership continue to inspire and elevate our music program. His hard work and commitment shine through every note played.
Congratulations to our senior band members—your contributions have helped shape the spirit and sound of Reardan, and you will be greatly missed. We are so proud of you!
Bravo to all involved—what a beautiful way to end the year on a high note!
Students of the junior class were able to spend two days at Whitworth University for Launch Northwest's Junior Summit. This is what one of the chaperones had to say about the event: "The Junior Summit was such a fun and meaningful experience! I’m so grateful for the opportunity to chaperone this event. It was inspiring to hear from the speakers, learn about various post-high school options available to our students, and most of all, spend quality time bonding and connecting with them.
You could truly see how much the students enjoyed and benefited from the experience.
Also, exciting news—our amazing kids earned $1,750 for our ASB! We’re incredibly proud of them and their efforts."
Juniors who attended Launch Northwest’s Junior Summit had the opportunity to tour the KHQ studio and gain firsthand insight into the world of newscasting. KHQ anchor Sam Adams demonstrated how the meteorology green screen works, guided students through the process of reading from the teleprompter, and shared valuable advice about reporting with accuracy and integrity. Students also met KHQ’s producer, who led them through the production room, explained the technical aspects of news production, and provided a behind-the-scenes look at the master control room.

A Shoutout to a Special Staff Member:
Mr. Smedley’s classroom was a welcoming space where goals were taken seriously—but laughter and good times were always part of the experience. Luci credits him for creating an environment that balances focus with fun.

Shoutout to a Special Staff Member:
Mackenzie wants to recognize Bob Swannack, who has been more than just a coach.
"Bob is someone I can always count on. He’s watched me grow over these four years, and I’ve never doubted that he’d be in my corner. No words can truly express how much he has helped me."

Athletics
At the June Board Meeting we will be discussing the POSSIBILITY of student-athletes playing multiple sports during the same season. We have been doing some research on how other school districts have implemented this model, and it will be a topic discussed at the "All Coaches" Mtg. on June 12th. Ultimately it will be up to the school board if this is a path we want to take or not. The draft contract that we have created includes the need for both coaches to approve, students to meet additional requirements, and a parent signature. All of this to say that we want to do our best to get out in front of any rumors out there/here, and say that there is more discussion to be had before a decision is made. Please do reach out if you have any questions.
