Link Crew Leadership News!
During second semester, the Link Crew Leadership Class participated in the CommuniCare program. We focused our efforts on supporting young adults who are struggling with addiction in the Portland Metro Area. Our class raised $1435.73 by collecting and recycling our school's cans and bottles, as well as various fundraisers. We received an additional $15,000 from The Schnitzer CARE Foundation.
Our class identified and evaluated local nonprofit organizations that best addressed our mission. We evaluated written proposals and completed an interview with each organization. Two nonprofit organizations were selected to receive a grant: Lifeworks NW received $5,000 and 4D Recovery received $11,435.73.

Countdown to Class of 2024 Graduation
Laker Club Info!
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!!! Please consider getting involved with Laker Club and come have fun with us! As we are nearing the end of the year, our Nominating Committee is looking for volunteers to fill board positions and chair committees for the 2024-2025 school year.
It's a great way to get to know new people and SO important to our school and entire LOHS community! Laker Club raises funds for Teacher Grant Requests, plans the Graduation Celebration for our Seniors, runs concessions at all sporting events throughout the year, provides meals for our wonderful staff, partners with the ACS teachers to run interviews for their classes, and so much more!
But NONE of these things can happen without an Executive Board and Committee Chairs.
Thank you to our current board members who have agreed to stay on!
President: Adria Cassidy
VP: NEEDED
General Treasurer/Grad Party Treasurer: Paula Gore
Concessions Treasurer: Lucy Liu
Secretary: NEEDED
Past President: Heidi Uhlman-Johnson
We are looking for people to fill the following:
Executive Board 2024-2025: We are looking for a Vice President and Secretary to complete next year's Executive Board. The Executive Board usually meets 3-4 times in addition to the 4-5 General meetings per year.
Vice-President- This is a great way to get involved in all things Laker Club by helping the President with various responsibilities throughout the year. In the event the President is not available, the VP will step up in any way that is needed. It is preferred, but not required, that the VP consider taking on the role as President for the following year.
Secretary- This is the job for you if you are organized, and enjoy taking notes and paying attention to detail. Our Secretary is responsible for taking minutes at each general Laker Club meeting and updating the Laker Club website. Time commitment is approximately 2-3 hours per month.
Committees 2024-2025:
ACS- We are looking for co-chairs to work with the 9th grade ACS teachers to organize and recruit volunteers for the mock interviews that happen over the course of a week at the end of each semester.
Concessions- We are looking for 3 co-chairs to run concessions for the 2024-2025 school year. Responsibilities include stocking and maintaining the concession stands throughout the year and scheduling staffing for all of the events.
Grad Party- We are looking for co-chairs to join in on the fun! Consider joining this committee and planning an awesome event for our class of 2025!!
Please let us know if you or someone you know may be interested in any of these exciting positions for next year!!
Thank you!

WAYS TO REPORT INCIDENTS RELATED TO BIAS, RACISM OR HARASSMENT IN LOSD
Parents-guardians who have concerns about a student’s well-being are encouraged to reach out to their principal, and to maintain strong lines of communication and partnership between students, families, staff, and other resources. SafeOregon is also an effective way to report a tip regarding safety threats or potential acts of violence to our students or schools. Students should also be aware that intentionally providing a false report is a serious offense. https://www.safeoregon.com/
In addition, below are reporting methods for parents-guardians or students to use to report issues related to racist, bias, or harassment incidents.
