Read to Succeed
6th graders are participating in Six Flag's Read to Succeed. If they read 6 hours they receive a free ticket to the park.
Book Crush
Students that shared their book crush were entered into a drawing for three romance books to celebrate Valentine's Day. Katelyn, Valery and Arianna were the winners.
For the Boys
The faculty committee on boys achievement met to discuss our reading over the break. We are making plans about how we can share ideas with the faculty.
New Books & Furniture
Several boxes of new books arrived including nonfiction award winners, more humor novels and requested titles from students. The library added two tall tables and lounge seating.
Common Core Standards
CC Standards addressed this month include 7.RIT.2, 7.RIT.3 and 7.RIT.8.
SCASL Region and Rock Hill PD
Mrs. Cox and other librarians were asked to lead the regional training on Common Core and the professional development for Rock Hill's librarians.
100th Day of School
Mrs. Shockley's class celebrated the 100th day of school in the library with a read aloud, How Many Jelly Beans?, ipad sorting game and a treat.
Community Helper Visit
Mrs. Cox visited the 4K classes at Palmetto Elementary to talk about her job and read a few books.
7th Grade Social Studies Infographics
The 7th graders came in for a lesson on WWII and the Cold War using infographics.
