Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Welcome to the May edition of our school newsletter! As we embrace the vibrant energy of spring, May brings with it a sense of excitement and possibility. It is a time of growth, renewal, and the emergence of new ideas that inspire us to reach new heights.
Our school community is stronger when we come together, united in our commitment to fostering a culture of respect, empathy, and inclusivity. Together, we create an environment where every individual feels valued, supported, and empowered to succeed.
May's school calendar is bustling with activity, from exciting events leading up to June’s important milestones. As we navigate this busy time, let us remember the power of collaboration and cooperation in achieving our shared goals.
This month also offers our students a chance to shine brightly, showcasing their talents, creativity, and kindness. I am continually amazed by the incredible achievements and contributions of our students, and I look forward to celebrating their successes with you.
Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership in creating a positive and enriching educational experience for all our students. Together, let us make May a month to remember!

Messages From Administrators
Student Pick-Up Line at Dismissal
As we continue to ensure the safety of our dismissal procedures and students and staff who may be utilizing the outside campus areas in the afternoon, Brophy administration would like to remind of some important guidelines regarding the student pick-up line at the end of the school day.
Cones that facilitate the entry of parents and caregivers into the pick up line will be moved by Brophy staff promptly at 3:00pm. It’s crucial that no traffic cones, signs, chains etc. are moved or removed by anyone other than school or FPS staff.
For those arriving earlier than 3:00pm to pick up a student at dismissal (3:20pm), we kindly ask that you wait in line along the sidewalk at the entry of the driveway as illustrated in the visual below.
Your cooperation and understanding in following these guidelines are greatly appreciated as we strive to create a more smooth and secure dismissal process for everyone involved.
Reminder re: phone and tech use on the Bus:
Brophy admin will like to remind parents and caregivers of our school’s policy regarding the usage of electronic devices, specifically iPads and phones, while students are on the bus.
While we understand the importance of phones as a means of communication between students and parents or caregivers, it's imperative that these devices are kept in student’s backpacks during bus rides. This policy is in place to ensure the safety and well-being of all students.
As there is no way for us to monitor what children may or may not be doing or viewing on their phones, having them out poses potential risks and distractions.
We kindly ask for your support in reinforcing this message with your child. By keeping phones, iPads, and other technology in backpacks, we can mitigate risk and create a safer environment for all.
Main Office Reminders
Dismissal Change Requests
If caregivers need to change pick-up plans for dismissal, please be sure to notify both your child's classroom teacher AND the main office. Doing both will make sure that your child will receive the message along with our teachers, and dismissal staff. Teachers may not check emails during the school day and we would not want to miss an important message about a dismissal change. We have made some errors this year and we have also not received change requests. Let's continue to work together so we can get all changes correct for dismissal each time.
Brophy School Selected as a "No Place For Hate School".
Hello Brophy Caregivers and Families! We are thrilled to share that Brophy School has been registered as a No Place For Hate Elementary School. The NPFH Program is a state and national program run through the Anti-Defamation League. Over 1800 schools are working together to build a learning community of inclusivity, respect, and equity that challenges bias. Please look for our projects in the upcoming months that will unite our school as a No Place for Hate School!
MCAS Corner
We have begun our next round of MCAS at Brophy School. Students are off to a great start!
We concluded part one of the Mathematics portion this week and will move onto part two next week for grades 3-4. Attendance has been strong! Keep up the great work.
We will continue to use this spot in our newsletter for updated MCAS information over the next few months. It will include our test schedule reminders as well as resources for caregivers. We will also use our mass notification system as well, when appropriate. It is a busy spring and we want to keep you informed and supported. Next week Grade 3 Math tests on Tuesday, May 7th, and Grade 4 Math tests on Wednesday, May 8th.
MCAS PARENT/CAREGIVER RESOURCES
Grade 1 Plants Trees on Arbor Day!
Thanks to the wonderful support of out PTO and some help from our Buildings and Grounds team, Grade 1 students participated in a tree planting last Friday, April 26, for Arbor Day! All grade 1 classes were given a mini lesson about Arbor Day and the importance of tree planting from Mr. Gibbons, and then on Friday, planted our trees right out side of their classroom windows. Students sang a tree song and welcomed our new friends to our campus. Please say hello to them as you pass foe parent pick-up each day. We selected two Linden trees and two Redpoint Maples. Perfect for our New England climate. Thanks to our first grade teachers, PTO, and B and G for making this all possible and a lasting memory for our students.
Grade 2 Students Planting in the Brophy Quad
Grade 2 Students began planting seeds last week and will begin to plant their seedlings soon in our Brophy Quad. Grade 2 has raised garden beds in our quad and we are hoping that families can donate some bags of raised bed soils for their project. If you would like to donate soil for our raised bed project for grade 2, please drop them off in the rear of our school on the loading dock school at Caregiver Pickup or any time you can after 6:00 P.M. or on a weekend. Much appreciated!!!
