Health Room News Re: Field Day
FIELD DAY IS FRIDAY, JUNE 7th!! LET THE GAMES BEGIN!
Parents PLEASE remember to:
-Apply sunscreen on your child in the morning BEFORE coming to school.
Teachers and school staff are NOT allowed to apply sunscreen on your children. Children cannot bring sunscreen to school with them. The only way it can be applied at school is if the sunscreen is hand delivered by the parent to the school nurse along with a medication authorization form signed by the doctor and the parent.
-Be sure your child has a water bottle packed for the school day.
Students will need to stay very hydrated and fill their water bottle multiple times this day. Please remind them to stay hydrated when playing outside in the heat.
-Have your child wear a hat to protect their skin/face from the sun.
Wearing a sun-protective hat is a simple and effective strategy for reducing ultraviolet radiation to the face, head and neck.
-Be sure your child is appropriately dressed for the day. Be sure to pack an extra set of clothing for them to change into out of their wet clothing.
Students will be getting wet with multiple water stations set up outside. We would like your child to be comfortable in school when field day is completed.
-Sneakers are best for field day.
Proper footwear for field day is important for active and fun activities. Sneakers will be best for safety.

Summer Work
Every summer it is important for students to engage in reading and practice their skills. The districts provides summer work and it can be found on the district website. Don't forget the Governor's Reading Challenge and the SW Public Library summer program. Please set aside some time (maybe 15-30 minutes 5x per week) to read and have students engaged in academics. This really does wonders to keep skills fresh. Lexia and Dreambox accounts will be available to students for the first part of the summer. As soon as we transition students from their current grade into the next grade they will lose access. The students and staff have worked so hard throughout the school year, I just don't want the students to lose ground over the summer.
Flower Donations
My gardening committee has begun planting in the raised bed gardens out back. They have decided to plant pumpkins in one garden and a mixture of vegetables/flowers in the other. While planting this spring if you have any left over annuals that you would like to donate, my gardening team would love to incorporate them into our garden. Thank you!
Band and Orchestra Recruitment
It is that time of year again where we are starting to plan our recruitment for band and orchestra. Check out the information below.
