As Student of the Year, Katelin addressed the seniors and audience at this year’s Senior Ceremony about how her time at Lyco CTC helped her test boundaries and find her career path. She encouraged the graduates to keep asking “What if” and to use the skills developed at Lyco CTC to find the answers.
After graduation, Katelin will attend East Stroudsburg University to earn a Master’s Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders. Her career goal is to become a Speech Language Pathologist.
Congratulations, Katelin! We are so proud of you and all of your accomplishments!

Early Childhood Education
The Early Childhood Education class celebrated the last day of preschool! The last day of preschool was a heartwarming event led by our enthusiastic high school students. They organized fun activities, games, and a special storytime, creating lasting memories for the preschoolers. The high schoolers' dedication and creativity shone through, making the day unforgettable. This collaboration not only brought joy to the young children but also strengthened the bonds within our school community.
Health Careers
The Level 1 students completed a unit related to the benefits of sleep and the negative effects of sleep deprivation. Students also researched different types of sleep disorders and presented their findings to the class. Students concluded their year-long instruction in medical terminology and completed a cumulative final exam. In the lab, students learned to safely provide nail care to patients and to properly dress a patient with one sided weakness and/or paralysis.
Level 2 students learned about care of the terminally ill and dying patient/family. To correspond with this instruction, the students practiced providing care for the dying patient and post mortem care (care after death) in the lab.
They practiced collecting and properly labeling clean catch urine specimens, stool specimens, and patient samples for laboratory analysis.
They also completed a simulation based learning activity where they applied their knowledge to stabilize, diagnose, and properly treat a simulated patient in an emergency room setting.
Students in class completed the dual enrollment medical terminology course. We are happy to report that all students taking the course for credit passed and earned three college credits!
Students participating in cooperative education, completed their job placements. All students performed very well on the job and learned a lot!
The seniors create an ABC book to represent what they learned over the 3 years in the Health Careers program. They must find one concept learned in the class to correspond with each letter of the alphabet. For example, A = Ambulate. They then must list at least 3 facts about that concept and have at least one picture to represent it. When they are finished Mrs.Shaffer binds it for them so they then have it as a memory book of what they learned in the class.
