Strategic Plan Focus
#PanthersImpact: On Election Day, the faculty and staff of Rye Neck stretched themselves into new instructional territory! The day started off with a work session led by turnkey trainers in each building. Teacher work focused on student engagement as opposed to student compliance. See pics here.
#LeadersLeaRN: On the November 5th Superintendent's Conference Day, the Science Department focused on strategies to elevate the student QFT questions by integrating higher-level scientific vocabulary. See pic here.
#RNlearns: Staff was led into the work by four Rye Neck students who participated in a civics program offered by the League of Women Voters of Rye, Rye Brook and Port Chester. Rachelle Candamil, Litzy Gramajo, Melani Linares and Mia Rodriguez speak about their experience in working in the "problem space" and finding ways to address community concerns. See the interview!
Beyond These Walls . . .
Area All-State Honorees: The Rye Neck Music Department proudly participated in the annual NYSSMA Music Festival. They performed with their respective groups at New Rochelle High School. Congratulations to all and thank you for bringing honor to Rye Neck! See details here.
- Community Service: The Village of Mamaroneck is having a tree pruning workshop. They will give community service hours to high school students. Click here for details.
- Cheer Clinic: The whole cheer team hosted a cheer clinic for the Rye Neck community. Students from K- 8th grade attended on Oct 27th. 45 students came to learn! See pics here.
Around the School
Mu Alpha Theta: On Monday, November 4th, Rye Neck inducted new members to their chapter of Mu Alpha Theta, the math honor society. Rye Neck 2017 grad, Matt Ponticello was the keynote speaker. He spoke about the ways in which his math knowledge plays into his daily life. He is currently in a PhD program in epidemiology at Yale. See pics here. List of students here.
A Day at the Opera: On Friday, November 1st, French, Strings & Theater students went on a field trip to Tarrytown Music Hall to see Carmen. See pics here.
Sports Success
- Congratulations to the varsity Boys Soccer team and coaches Iacovelli, Martinez, Galeano and Coronel for their double OT win to capture the Section 1 Class B Championships on Sunday! In the Regional Semifinals on Nov 6th at Yorktown High School, our team bested Section 9's Mount Academy, 4-0! They will take on Chenango Forks in the State Regional Final at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Union Endicott High School! Click here to purchase tickets!
- Good luck to the Cross Country team and Coaches Scalise-Sykucki and Soohoo as they prepare for Sectionals on Saturday at Bowdoin Park! The following athletes have qualified to race:
- Boys- Will Delaney, Zach Harrison, Sora Irie, Aidan Kenny, Carlos Miranda, Ozzy Ringstad, George Santa, Julian Smith, John Sykes, Rintaro Takahashi
- Girls- Elle Barker, Phoebe Carmel, Val Casciano, Katie Harvey, Yuna Hong, Soyuko Irie, Ainara Schube.
- Congratulations to Grayson Findlay, Ayana Ite and Coach Konopka! They will be competing at the Section 1 Swimming Championships on November 12th and 13th!!! Grayson will swim the 50 Free and 100 Free, and Ayana will swim the 200 Free and 500 Free. Both swimmers are members of the 200 Free Relay that has already qualified for the State Championships, while Grayson is a member of the 200 Medley relay that also has qualified for States! Good luck on 11/22 and 11/23!!!
