A Message from The Principal

Greetings Families,

Starting May 28, all students will be allowed to wear shorts to school for the remainder of the school year with exceptions:

1. Shorts must be at or below the knee. NO EXCEPTIONS

2. Beige or blue khaki uniform shorts only.

3. No leggings or stretch pants/ shorts of any kind.

4. No ripped shorts.

5. No skinny, skin tight, or biker shorts.

Much of this information Parents, we trust that you will monitor your children's clothes before they arrive. If not, we will call you to bring them a change of clothes. These are still children attending school. Even in shorts, dress should be appropriate.

Please note that DCP-Redford is a uniform school and will be moving forward.

Intent to Return

Dear Parent/Guardian,

We hope this message finds you well. We are currently in our re-enrollment process as we approach the 2024-2025 school year. Your active participation in securing your child's seat in both the classroom and school bus transportation is not just important; it's crucial. Your role in this process is integral to your child's education journey. We urge you to do so as soon as possible.

The re-enrollment process is crucial in ensuring your child's placement and helping you avoid being placed on a waiting list as the school year nears. Completing re-enrollment now will ensure a smooth and efficient start. Your early action is not only appreciated, but it also shows your proactive and responsible approach towards your child's education.

To re-enroll your child, please choose one of the following steps:

1. To submit your intent to return electronically, please click the link

2. Forms have been sent and will be sent home again with your scholar. Please check your student's backs.

3. Verbally call the main office or respond to this email with your intent to return.

Summer Advantage Enrollment

All scholars must be re-enrolled at the hosting school site in order to enroll in the school's free summer program.

Once you have enrolled at the hosting school's campus, click GET REGISTERED NOW to submit your application.

We ask that all of our Summer Advantage families attend our parent info meeting in order to meet your program director and the great teachers who will be supporting your scholar this summer. We will also provide full program details and expectations.

Once you've completed those steps...we are all set!

8th-12th Grade Requirement

Michigan Compiled Law (MCL) 380.1293 requires post-graduation information packets to be provided to pupils in grades 8-12. The school is required to provide in electronic or non-electronic form the post-graduation opportunities informational packet found on the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity (LEO) Pathfinder page. The packet is for each pupil enrolled in any of grades 8-12 in the local public school district, both traditional public school district or public school academy, intermediate school district, or nonpublic school.

RED, WHITE AND BLUE DAY MAY 23

Thursday, May 23 will be Red, White and Blue Day. Staff and students are encouraged to wear those combination of colors.Staff or scholars not participating in this event must adhere to our uniform policy. THIS IS NOT A FREE DRESS DAY!

School will be closed on Friday, May 24 and Monday, May 27 in Observance of Memorial Day. Classes will resume on Tuesday, May 28, 2024

KINDERGARTEN PROMOTION

Our Kindergarten Promotional Ceremony will take place on Wednesday, June 5 at 9am at the DCP Redford Campus. Refreshments will be served afterwards. All participants are encouraged to wear special clothes for the occasion.

5th Grade Clap Over

5th Grade will have a Clap Over to Middle School event on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at 10AM. K-7 scholars should make celebratory signs and banners to mark the hallway as the 5th graders step into their new learning space in the middle school wing! Parents will be invited to help clap and briefly meet the teachers.

8TH GRADE PROMOTION

Our 8th Grade Promotion will take place Wednesday, June 5 at 1:30pm at the DCP Redford Campus, under the Big Tent. Refreshments will be served after the program. All participants are encouraged to wear special clothes for the occasion.

8TH GRADE BBQ

8th Graders will have their End of the Year BBQ on Monday, June 3 on the grounds of DCP Redford. This celebration is only for the 8th graders. This is one of the last times they will get to enjoy each other before moving on to high school.

Sensory Sensitive Sundays at Chuck E. Cheese locations

Now - DECEMBER 01 @ 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM

On the first Sunday of every month, the play area will open two hours early for children with autism or sensory sensitivities. It will have reduced lighting and noise.

Event times: 9 a.m.-11 a.m. March 3, April 7, May 5, June 2, July 7, Aug. 4, Sept. 1, Oct. 6, Nov. 3 and Dec. 1, 2024
