Dear Bateman Families & Friends
The end of the year brings many opportunities to celebrate the growth of our community throughout this school year! It is a joyful time to join together in honor of the accomplishments of our students, educators, and community members at large!
Throughout the month of May, our Educators have been busy assessing the academic progress of each student in a variety of ways. We are encouraged by the immense growth we have seen thus far and will continue to see throughout the upcoming week of assessments! We congratulate each member of our community for contributing to student success, as we know this can only happen through true partnership!
We invite you to read the upcoming events carefully as we celebrate this wonderful school year together. We hope to see you at an end of year event soon!
Warmly,
Ms. Davos & Ms. Kloepper
Anticipated Transfers
If your child/children are currently in K-7th grade but will not be attending Bateman next year please complete this form and stop by the main office to complete the transfer paperwork. Although we do not want to see any of our families leave, we do need documentation to ensure we can plan classrooms effectively and share student records with the new school. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to Ms. Rivera at elrivera6@cps.edu.
Thank you, Bateman Community!
Thank you to the entire Bateman Community for creating an incredibly special Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week! From lunches, surprise paleta deliveries, gift cards, flowers, and more...our staff truly felt loved beyond measure! Thank you!
Music Partnership Spotlights
This year we had the opportunity to partner with both Chicago Arts Partnerships in Education (CAPE) and Chicago Symphony Orchestra to bring arts integrated units to some of our 3rd and 4th graders. With CAPE rooms 207 and 208 were challenged with creating an art piece that was both wearable and musical. They presented their musical performances in a school invited showcase and their pieces are now at the CAPE gallery till June 3rd. 3rd grade students spent the last couple months studying communities both inside and outside of school and making connections between what we can see and what we hear. Students worked with a civic fellow from CSO about graphic notation and then created their own compositions to connect with their personal home videos. You can see their final video here!
Monuments & Memories
8th Graders spent three days in Washington DC visiting all the sites! Some highlights include the White House, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the Capitol, the Spy Museum, and much more! We hope it was a trip to remember!
