Cell Phones and Smartwatches
The Conroe ISD Board adopted new guidelines regarding student cell phone use during the October Board meeting. While it is not a substantial guideline change at the elementary level, there are changes in which parents need to be aware. Our Foundations team is working to ensure that these procedures are being implemented on our campus and that we are helping students adapt to these changes. The student handbook is currently being updated to reflect these changes. The new guidelines state the following:
Cell phones and smartwatches may be used respectfully and responsibly before school and after school.
Cell phones and smartwatches should not be used to capture video, audio, or images at school or on the bus.
Cell phones and smartwatches should be set on silent mode and kept in backpacks, lockers, or other designated storage areas and should not be visible during school hours including instructional time, reward time, free time, lunch, and in the hallways.
Use of cell phones and smartwatches may be permitted in extenuating circumstances with permission from a staff member. (ex. to notify parent/ guardian of a late bus)
Morning Arrival
We appreciate your patience and feedback as we refine our morning car rider line. Here are some reminders about morning arrival:
Our doors open at 7:00 for all car riders. Students will be able to eat breakfast and remain in the cafeteria until 7:30.
Students are counted "tardy" after 8:00. Instruction begins promptly at 8:00 and we want our students present and ready to learn!
Students must remain in their car until they reach a designated drop off, they then can exit the vehicle.
Parents should remain in your car at drop-off.
Please have your child ready (unbuckled and backpack/lunch kit in-hand) to exit the vehicle once you have rounded the turn into our lot.
If your child needs help unbuckling or needs more time, please pull forward past the first cone. A staff member will come to you to assist.
Come earlier rather than later as our line gets very long closer to 8:00.
Please note, the front porch is not a drop off zone unless you arrive late. If you arrive after 8:00 and car rider staff have already gone inside and the sign to go to the front is out, you may then drive around to the front of the school, park in a parking space and walk your student into the front office. Please remember, the fire lane is a no parking zone at any time.
Thank you for helping us to make our car rider line safe and efficient!
SAFETY UPDATES 2024
- Front Office Entrance: This entry is designated for buses and special needs students ONLY. We will not be accepting Late Arrivals if the Car Rider Line is still active.
- Fire Lane (Front Office): This is a No Parking Zone at all times! This is the policy ALL DAY LONG even if you are just dropping off or picking up, please park in a designated spot.
- Fire Lane (Car Rider Line): The car rider line starts lining up early and that is perfectly fine, just remember that your car should NEVER BE LEFT UNATTENDED.
- Lunches: Feel free to come and enjoy lunch with your student. We have limited space due to our growth, therefore, you will need to sign up on the link below. During your lunch visit please park in a designated parking spot, stay with your child in your reserved table and please do not roam the cafeteria, hallways or classrooms. We truly want to create the safest possible environment for all of our students.
TIPS FOR A FAST ARRIVAL
- Once you enter the parking lot, have your student ready to exit the vehicle with backpack on.
- If your child was not able to get out of the car and needs additional assistance, please pull forward after cone #1 and someone will assist you.
- If you entered the parking lot, are next to the sidewalk and your child is a 2nd - 4th grader, they do not have to wait for staff or safety patrol to open and close the door. They may go ahead and come on down.
- Doors open at 7:00 AM.
- It takes about 7-8 minutes once you turn from Ed Kharbat Dr. to enter the building. Please give yourselves enough time so that our lions can be inside campus doors before 8:00 a.m. especially when it is raining.
Eating Lunch with Your Child
We love having our parents for lunch! You MUST sign up online for an open slot before arriving at the school. There will be NO onsite sign-up available. We will only allow up to 6 adults per lunch period, so be sure to sign up early to save your spot. If a date you are signing up for is not listed, this means the campus is not allowing visitors on that day. This occurs at times throughout the school year for reasons such as state testing, campus events etc.
A MESSAGE FROM OUR NURSE

Volunteering
When you get to the School Selection portion, please select Wilkinson Elementary (and any other school you may wish to volunteer at this school year) then click the green "Add" button to add to the school list. If you do not see Wilkinson Elementary listed as one of your selected schools, please go back and try again. Unfortunately, we cannot see that you have completed the application if Wilkinson is not selected. You will receive an email confirmation typically within 24-48 hours.
If you arrive for a volunteer opportunity and have not completed the background check, you will not be permitted to stay for the activity. Please pass this information along to any grandparents, aunts, uncles or family friends who may wish to come help out. The background check applies to anyone who will be working with our Lions.
This is a yearly application so even if you completed this form at the end of last school year, it does not renew automatically. You must complete it again for the 23-24 year.
Thank you so much for your assistance with keeping our Lions safe!
