Thank you to those that participated in last week's newsletter survey. The initial newsletter was well received and will continue on a weekly basis. There were, however, many that wish to receive the weekly announcements with the Mr. Baumgartner flare. As a result, there will be several audio broadcasts each month with highlights of the events at Hamburg School.

PTA Sponsored Community Event
Thank you to the Hamburg PTA for hosting our sumer social gathering "Ice Cream with the Hamburg PD." It was heartwarming to see our Hamburg families gather together to reconnect just prior to our first day of school. Shout out to Chief Tangorra for his assistance in organizing. Thank you to Patrolman Marcone and Patrolman Dobrowolski for spending the afternoon with us.

Background Information and Moving Forward
In 2023 the Hamburg School partnered with Kathleen Helawa Educational Consultants to develop a 5 year (2023-2028) Strategic Plan. A school strategic plan is a document that outlines a school's goals, objectives, and strategies for the future. It's a roadmap that helps guide the school towards achieving its goals and objectives, and it can also help schools meet the needs of their students, staff, and community. The Hamburg School's District Goals are developed based on the needs outlined in the Strategic Plan and serve as the premise of the Superintendent's annual evaluation.
Hamburg Highlights: School News
Preschool Tike Track
Hamburg School has three full day preschool classrooms that are funded by the New Jersey Department of Education's Preschool Education Aid (PEA). Each year our school is able to budget for updates to support our youngest learners. Last year our school installed a curtain divider in our gymnasium so that we could offer a shared instructional space (Physical Education classes on one side and Preschool gross motor activities on the other). We are in the final stages of completing an expansion to our playground area where our youngest learners will have the ability to ride their trikes outdoors. Pictured is the base coat of the preschool tike track which is projected to be finished soon. Additional PEA funded purchases include the preschool playground and a storage shed (Picture 3 background) to safely store our preschool trike bikes.
Hamburg School's Therapy Dog
...Introducing Echo's Chocolate "Moose" 🤎
We have several new students at Hamburg School this year asking why we have a dog. Moose is a gift to the Hamburg students. He joined the Hamburg family in June 2021, at eight weeks old, and spends an average of four days each week at school. He can be found visiting student classrooms and has been participant to counseling sessions for some of our students. Moose was purchased from Shiron Farms (Asbury, NJ) and is an AKC registered chocolate labrador retriever. Moose passed his Canine Good Citizen's (CGC) test in June 2022 and then passed the Bright & Beautiful Therapy Dog test in December 2022.

Shared Service Agreement with the Hamburg Police
On July 1, 2024 the Hamburg School entered into a shared services agreement with the Hamburg Police Department / Hamburg Borough Council. This agreement will allow the Hamburg Police to utilize Room 413 in the Hamburg School's 1900 building as a satellite office. The police department will have full access to the room where a police officer will be assigned to work from this satellite location. As a result, there will be an increased law enforcement presence in and around the Hamburg School. We appreciate the continued partnership with the Hamburg Borough Council, the Hamburg Fire Department, and the Hamburg Police Department.
