Grade Level Planning
Report cards came home with students on Friday, 10/25! We know this time of year is oh-so busy, but it's important to stay on point with goals...
10th grade: Focus on resume building. Now is a great year to make sure that you are getting involved here on campus and in our local community. ACRHS is offering many clubs this year (many meet before school so students CAN participate even if transportation is an issue)! Not sure how to get involved in the community? A great place to start is by volunteering with an organization through the United Way. Check out: www.handsonasheville.org Keep track of all your service hours and community involvement activities, this is super helpful when applying your senior year.
11th grade: Critical Year for success. Make sure you are on track with college entrance exams. ALL Juniors will take the ACT on February 25th. Make sure you study! Here is a free practice test. Sign up for the SAT in the spring: www.sat.org Make sure you are using a college day! Forms are available in counseling to waive your day once you set up an official college tour through the school of your choice. Narrow down your list of colleges. Find a summer job, volunteer opportunity or internship in your field of interest.
12th grade: Decide your after high school plans. Meet with our AB Tech representative, contact a military recruiter or decide where you want to apply to college and keep plugging away! College applications are still in full swing! Make sure to track your application, financial aid, and scholarship deadlines. Attend your 2 college days (forms are available in counseling). Complete and submit FAFSA: www.fafsa.gov and RDS: https://www.ncresidency.org
Need help with any of these things? Make an appointment with your school counselor!
Attendance (ASA) make-up
See an FF on your report card? Not to worry...After School Attendance (ASA) make-up starts next week!
The days are Tuesday, Thursday and select Saturday's starting on Tues. 11/5. Tuesday/Thursday is from 3:15 - 5:15 in Room 246 (Shoop), and Saturdays are from 8am - 12 pm in the Cafeteria. There are 32 hours available for students to make up hours for Fall Semester. Stop by counseling for a copy of the schedule.
PROCEDURES & TUTORING: Students sign in for each session and can go to tutoring if they have made prior arrangements with their teacher. They will need to check in with Ms. Troy first, then return with a note signed by the teacher offering tutoring.
DURING SESSIONS: Students are allowed and encouraged to use their laptops and to work on schoolwork silently.
PAYMENT: Students can pay during an ASA session or they can see Ms. Tory before school or during 4th block. No payments should be made to counseling or the Main Office. 1 hour = $3. Saturday session (4 hours) is $10.
Graduation Reminders
Mid-Year graduation will be held 1/25/2020, 11am at the Thomas Wolfe Auditorium. You do NOT need tickets for Mid-Year graduation. Students must report by 9 to practice.
