CES Happenings
Dear CES Family,
How important is reading? Well, we're going to take a day to celebrate it on March 1st, which is National Read Across America Day. This also coincides with a celebration of the amazing children's author, Dr. Seuss. Our staff really places a premium on reading because the benefits are huge: improved imagination and creativity, better and expanded vocabulary, general cognitive development...the list is long. Oh, and another really important benefit: improved concentration. This is particularly important in today's society where so many of our students are so quick to jump from one thing to the next without really going to depth on anything.
We have some great news about books for you: thanks to some folks at our district office, CES has received grant funds in the amount of $25,000 for the sole purpose of growing our library book collection. That's a lot of money! Our librarians, Mrs. Mary Juska and Mrs. Mandy Hull, along with our teaching staff, are working hard on the selection and purchasing process and will have expended all of our funds by April 1. We are buying a lot of books and have the wonderful challenge of figuring out where to put all of them...a great problem to have. This is a huge win for our kids.
Sincerely,
Scott Cory
Principal
