Sandhill E-News
Week of 9/23/2024
A Message from Mr. Johnson:
Hello Sandhill Families,
As we finish our third week of school, I want to share a few important updates and reminders:
October is Safety Awareness Month
Safety is a top priority at Sandhill, and throughout the month of October, we’ll be sharing updates and resources with you. Look for more information in next week’s newsletter!
Homecoming Week Dress Up Days
Next week is Homecoming Week at the high school, and we’re excited to celebrate at Sandhill with fun Dress Up Days! The themes for the week are:
- Monday – Cozy Day
- Tuesday – Hat Day
- Wednesday – Favorite Color Day
- Thursday – Favorite Movie or Sports Team Day
- Friday – Stoughton Spirit Day
Encourage your students to join the fun!
Pick Up/Drop Off Traffic Patterns
Please take a moment to review the Pick Up/Drop Off Traffic Patterns photo below. Here are two important reminders to help keep things moving smoothly:
- Move all the way forward in the pick up/drop off lines to ensure traffic flows efficiently. The more cars we can fit into the area, the faster the line moves.
- The bus circle is reserved for school buses, daycare buses, and families of students needing special accommodations. Starting next week, any other vehicles using the bus circle during pick up/drop off will be verbally asked to move. We appreciate your cooperation in keeping traffic organized and safe.
Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to celebrating Homecoming Week with your students!
Bob/Mr. Johnson
School Reminders
School Pictures/Picture Make Up Day:
If your child got their picture taken on August 29th at Back to School Conferences you can order pictures by following this link. The code to order a picture package online is: EVT4N3ZHJ
If your child did not get the chance to take their photo, or it didn't turn out quite how you expected it to, our picture retake day is October 8, 2024.
Family Engagement Opportunity
We are excited to introduce the Fall edition of a yearlong Literacy Challenge. As we embrace the beauty of autumn, we invite all families to participate in this enriching experience that fosters a love for reading and strengthens family bonds.
The Crane Cart Returns
This week, Sandhill's Crane Cart came around for students to shop at. The Crane Cart is part of our Schoolwide PBIS system to recognize positive behaviors throughout the school. Students earn Crane Cash for following the expectations of being Safe, Responsible and Respectful. They can then spend their Crane Cash to buy items or experiences from the Crane Cart.
A big thank you to Sandhill's Working for Kids for providing funds to help stock the Crane Cart throughout the year! As always, we'd love to hear from families should you have any feedback or questions about our PBIS system or the Crane Cart.

School District Updates
Spring 2024 Forward Individual Student Report (ISR) Sent via USPS
In the near future, you will receive a paper copy of your student’s Individual Student Report (ISR) mailed to your residence via the United States Postal Service. The ISR provides information about your child’s performance on the Wisconsin Forward Exam. The Forward Exam was administered during the spring of 2024 in English language arts (ELA) and mathematics for students in grades 3-8, science for grades 4 and 8, and social studies for grades 4, 8, and 10. As part of the Wisconsin Student Assessment System, the Forward Exam is a large-scale, standardized achievement test designed to assess what students know in relation to the Wisconsin Academic Standards.
Please remember that the ISR is just one of many indicators of your child’s academic performance. To obtain a more complete picture of your student’s areas of strength and growth, it is important to consider information from a wide variety of sources.
For more information on ISRs, or your student’s learning experience and performance, please contact your student’s classroom teacher or your school principal.
