Ahoy Families!

October is bustling with activities and learning at our elementary school! This newsletter is packed with updates on current and upcoming events. Thank you for being an essential part of our team, supporting our Pirates on their journey to success.

Just a few reminders :

* Wednesday, October 9th is a 2 hour LATE start. The doors will open at 10am and the school day will start at 10:30am.

* Monday, October 14th there is no school and teachers will have an inservice day.

* Thursday, October 17th there will be a 1 hour EARLY dismissal due to Parent/Teacher Conferences prk-12.

Cardington Pride Runs Deep! To celebrate this, every Friday we want everyone to wear something red & black! This is not just for students and staff, but we are encouraging families and the community to do so as well.

Starting this school year, K-4 students will not receive traditional homework but rather home practice materials. These materials are designed for you to work with your child to reinforce their learning and support their progress.

In order to continue offering free breakfast and lunch to our students for years to come, CLLS is asking ALL families to complete the Household Information Survey linked below. This will also help CLLS determine if we are eligible for additional offerings to benefit our students and families. More information, and the survey itself, can be found below! Please note- you do not have to return a form to the office should you complete the survey online!

Next week the district will be participating in a Homecoming Spirit Week! Included is the schedule for the elementary. We hope to see everyone at the parade on Wednesday, October 9th and at the football game Friday evening, October 11th!! Let's go Pirates!!

If you ever need to make a change to your child's end-of-day arrangements, please contact us as soon as possible. We understand that unforeseen circumstances may arise, and we want to accommodate your needs while ensuring your child's safety.

To request a change in your child's end-of-day plan, please follow these steps:

1. Call the School Office: Contact our school office at 419-864-6692 option2 before 2PM to inform us of the change. This allows us to make the necessary arrangements and communicate them to your child's teacher.

   
   

2. Provide Details: When you call, please provide specific details about the change, including the new transportation arrangements, the name of the person picking up your child, or any other relevant information.

   
   

   Safety is our top priority, and we appreciate your cooperation in adhering to these procedures. By following these steps, we can ensure a smooth and secure transition for your child at the end of the school day.

The Character Theme for the month of October is RESPECT. I will be visiting all classrooms to talk about respecting ourselves and others. One of our activities will be for our young pirates to let us know something they respect about themselves. ASK them what they respect about themselves

The Clothes Closet is looking for children who could use winter clothing.

The Mount Gilead Clothes Closet provides Morrow County children in grades K-12 free winter clothing, to help families in need of a little extra support. The Clothes Closet is not associated with other agencies that offer clothing assistance. If you receive clothing from another agency, you are still eligible to receive clothing from the Mount Gilead Clothes Closet.

Appointments are scheduled for Saturdays from now through early to mid November. Their hours are 9:30 AM to 12 noon. If you would like to participate and are in need of clothing for your K - 12 child/children, please call 419.571.6824 from 9 AM to 9 PM to make an appointment.

The Pals of Pirates wrapped up the Pizza Roller fundraiser this week! A big THANK YOU to all that participated! Check out their calendar of events for upcoming events.

Once again the Kindergarten- fourth grade classes will be performing at the Cardington Christmas Bazaar on November 16th this year. Performance times are listed below. I would like for all students to arrive 15 minutes before their performance time. Rehearsals are going very well in class. Please encourage your child to also practice at home. The accompaniment music and practice videos will be uploaded to our Google Classroom. Feel free to dress them in nice clothes and Christmas attire is encouraged:) Drop off will be at the doors by the High School band room. If you have not joined our Google Classroom, please do so as more information will be shared there. Google Classroom code is m53zlbq. Kindergarten- 8:30 am

First grade- 9:15 am

Second grade- 10:00 am

Third grade- 10:45 am
