NEWSLETTER - MAY 2022
SENIOR SCHOOL
FROM PRINCIPAL'S DESK
Dear Bodhians,
Bodhi, an abode of learning, is always abuzz with stimulating activities for learners; April 2022 was no different. We started the month with a kids carnival giving a stage for the young talents in Jodhpur. The primary years' program celebrated World Health Day, World Earth Day, to inculcate the importance of health and earth through thought-provoking activities. The importance of reading was ingrained in young minds through a DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) program. The middle and secondary division was not far behind with their inter-house One-Act Play competition displaying their command over literature and drama. The partakers among middle and senior school Bodhians had a field day with the Constitution Quiz and current affairs. It was an enriching experience for the audience as they too learned a lot about the Indian constitution and current affairs. Armed with the experience of being part of all the above activities, Bodhians went about choosing their council.
Bodhi's student council has started their work in earnest with a brainstorming session with the school board on ways of improving their experiences. As we are about to have our summer vacation, teachers have put together intellectually stimulating holiday assignments to ensure learners have a purposeful vacation. Bodhi is also offering a summer school with a plethora of activities ranging from sports to photography, to aid the skill development of the local community. I urge you to evaluate the offerings and make use of this wonderful opportunity.
As an educationist, the developments in the city over the last few days have disturbed me, but am confident, with our pedagogy, Bodhi is in the process of creating global leaders who will work for peace and development, imbibed with the core values of Bodhi namely, Confidence, Acceptance, Respect and Empathy. Wishing all in the Bodhi family, a safe and enriching summer vacation 2022.

The themes of the plays ranged from humour, introspection of human emotions, gratitude

BHIGHBROWS - BODHIANS' TWITTER HANDLE
Twitter is a strategic communication tool that lets its users post short thoughts of 140
characters or fewer called tweets. It is used to communicate and share useful information. The
movers and shakers of various fields express their views on a variety of issues every day. This
gives an opportunity to connect with them through words and also keeps one abreast with
what is happening around or what is trending. In times like these where children are reluctant
to read newspapers, this platform can help them remain aware, create their opinion and even
participate.
With this objective in mind, students of Bodhi English Club started its official Twitter handle on
April 28, 2022. All the stakeholders are requested to create their personal Twitter account and
follow https://twitter.com/BHighbrows to express their opinions. We urge you to utilize the
platform as the newsroom, while anticipating questions from our communities and answering
them as quickly and as transparently as possible.

GRADE 12 - DISCUSSION POINTS ON INDIA'S HEALTHCARE IN THE LAST TWO YEARS
India, a developing country offers its medical services to people across the world and while India’s doctors and facilities are one of the best in the world, the general public rarely receive these services because of high costs. India has been successful in eradicating polio, reducing epidemics caused by tropical diseases and controlling HIV to a large extent. However, it still faces a huge economic burden due to NCDs, struggles to balance accessibility, affordability and quality of healthcare.
Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure
Acts as a testing network for effective diagnosis and monitoring of diseases to support health and wellness centers all over the country
Offers universal access to high-quality and affordable healthcare services across India.
Awaz Health Insurance Scheme
Awaz Health Insurance is a healthcare scheme introduced by the state government of Kerala for migrant workers. This initiative is the first of its kind that is intended for migrant laborers. This scheme provides health insurance cover and accidental death coverage specifically for migrant workers working in the state. In November 2017, this health insurance scheme was introduced by the Kerala government.
Covid-19 Pandemic
Government regulated lockdowns and masks during the pandemic and also promoted safety measures such as social distancing and washing hands often.
There were also travel restrictions to go from one state to another which led to a lot of people unable to travel back home
Arogya Setu app was developed by the government
The second wave was the deadliest for India as many people died due to shortage of oxygen and medicines in hospitals.
Vaccines
Two vaccines (Bharat Biotech's Covexin and Oxford-AstraZeneca’s Covishield manufactured by Serum Institute of India) – medically safeguarding the Indian population and those of 100+ countries against COVID-19.
With Covishield being the most administered vaccine, till date successfully vaccinating 77% of the eligible population
However due to under testing of Covaxin (the second most administered vaccine) during the manufacturing process, Brazil canceled an order of 20 million.
