SGB Week Ahead
March 25-27
Value for the month of MARCH: SACRIFICE
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Dear SGB Parents,
HOLY WEEK
The most Holy Week of our faith began today with Palm Sunday. While it is a short school week, our faith is focused on the Easter Triddum. The three sacred liturgical days begin on Holy Thursday, then Good Friday and finally Jesus' resurrection on Easter Sunday. As our upcoming Spring vacation brings joy and time with family and friends, it's important for us as Catholics to remained focus on this important time in our faith. I encourage our SGB families to take part in the events in your parishes this Holy Week. I also found this beautiful message from Pope Francis and I hope you find it helpful as you prepare for Easter with your family. Click here to listen to Pope Francis.
NYS TESTING - ELA
SGB Students will be participating in the New York State ELA Tests after Spring break. This year, all students in Grades 3-8 will be taking COMPUTER-BASED TESTS (CBT) for the NYS ELA Tests. Each class has been familiarizing themselves with how this works through the use of practice tests.
The testing schedule is as follows:
- Grades 6-8 - Wednesday, April 10 and Thursday, April 11
- Grades 4 & 5 - Monday, April 15 and Tuesday, April 16
- Grade 3 - Wednesday, April 17 and Thursday, April 18
INFORMATION REGARDING TESTING:
- Students should eat a healthy breakfast (as usual!).
- Students should bring a healthy snack and water bottle each day of testing.
- Students will wear their gym uniforms and participate in physical activities prior to test taking.
- Students must arrive on time at 8am.
- Physical activities will be from 8:15-8:45am each morning of testing for grades 3-8.
- Testing will be from 9am - 11:30am.
All students WHO WILL NOT BE TAKING THE NY STATE ELA TESTS will remain home until 12pm.
At 12pm, students will join their classes at recess (grades 3) or lunch (grades 4-8) after signing in at the office. Students will be marked late, but not absent on these two days.
Students who come to school will be administered the state tests, as we do not have the staff to accommodate non-test taking students. If your child will not be participating in the NYS ELA test, please click here to complete the form. ONCE THE FORM IS COMPLETE, YOU DO NOT NEED TO DO ANYTHING ELSE.
SPRING MAP Testing
Students will also participate in the final round of MAP testing this Spring. This is a formal assessment that shows the growth our students have achieved from their Fall and Winter MAP Assessments. Classroom teachers will inform you of your child's testing dates.
SGB SPRING UNIFORMS
Students will begin wearing their SGB Spring Uniforms when they return from the Easter/Spring break on April 8. If you need any items please check out https://flynnohara.com/
