Taylor
A summary of what was read at our first Family Meeting: This year’s first Lancer Leader of the Week is Taylor, an 8th grader who exemplifies “Lead By Example” leadership. Beyond her academic and musical talents, Taylor is also a skilled dancer, writer, painter, and sketch artist. Her dedication to the band program is unmatched—she spent summer sharpening her skills, even earning the “Excellence in Musicianship” and “Silent but Deadly” awards. The Lakeshore Middle School staff and band directors proudly recognize Taylor for her outstanding contributions. Congratulations, Taylor!
The entire staff introduced themselves!
Noah
A summary of what was read at Family Meeting: This 8th grade Lancer Leader of the Week embodies the spirit of the polar bear with his love for hockey and being on the ice. He enjoys both the beauty of Southwest Michigan and dreams of living in the mountains. A fan of hockey star Dylan Larkin, Noah comes to his second year of Spanish class with a smile, positive attitude, and a willingness to learn. His teachers describe him as focused, proactive, polite, and respectful, balancing academics with social time. For his enthusiasm, leadership, and hard work, we proudly nominate Noah as Lancer Leader of the Week.

Erin Kelly
Hello LMS Families! I am a Lakeshore graduate myself and loved my time in the Lakeshore district. After attending GVSU, I moved across the country and lived in Los Angeles, California for three years. I loved living there but decided to move back home and work on completing my teaching certificate with an endorsement in learning disabilities. I have been working as a paraprofessional the past couple years and I learned so much from getting to do that. During my free time I love hanging out with my dog, reading, watching a good show and traveling to different parts of the world.
Since the last Lance...

The 8th grade got together for their annual class picture!
MSTEP Parent Reports
Spring 2024 MSTEP parent reports are being sent home with 7th and 8th grade students on Friday.
Hollywood and Roosevelt families: 6th grade parent reports were previously mailed out from their respective elementary schools.
Stewart families: 6th grade parent reports were sent to the middle school and will be given to students.
The Golden Lance
Every week, data is calculated across five categories: tardies, number of office referrals, academics (percentage of passing grades), grade level bathroom/hallway cleanliness, and cafeteria/lunch recess behavior. The grade earning the highest points wins The Golden Lance the following week and is announced at Family Meeting. 7th grade has won the first two Golden Lances of the year - keep up the great work, Class of 2030!
LMS Home Football Games: LMS Student Section
The LMS student section is located to the right of the high school student section (Red Rage). This is the only section that is monitored by staff.

Academic Support Center (begins 10/7)
Academic Support Center
Monday through Thursday
2:50pm - 3:30pm
LMS Media Center
Begins Monday, October 7
Purpose: To provide a quiet location after school for students to complete classwork and receive academic support.
The Academic Support Center will be staffed by one-two LMS teachers and members from Lakeshore High School’s National Honor Society.
A staff member will open the doors to the Academic Support Center at 2:50 PM. This will allow the students the necessary time to visit their locker and ensure they have all of their materials to be successful.
Upon entering, each student will be required to:
Check PowerSchool for missing work and grades
The doors to the Academic Support Center will close at 2:55 PM. No students will be admitted to the area after this time to allow for a quiet location free of distraction for the students. Students do not have to sign up ahead of time - they can attend when they want/need to.
This is a voluntary option available to our students. Our staff members will take attendance daily.
