Dear Ryley School Families,
February at Ryley School was filled with warmth, generosity, and community spirit as we
embraced “kindness”, our essential characteristic for the month. It was inspiring to see students,
staff, and families come together in so many ways to show their care and appreciation for one
another.
A special thank you to our amazing parent volunteers who give their time and energy to support
our school. Mrs. Vanstone makes a difference every day through her work with the lunch
program and her help in the kindergarten class. Mrs. Tensen and Mrs. Hank went above and
beyond organizing our pizza lunch and even donated the drinks and desserts. Our junior high
basketball teams were lucky to have Mr. Vanstone and Mrs. McKinney dedicate their time to
coaching—your efforts are truly appreciated!
Kindness was also at the heart of our Students’ Union activities, which brought joy and school
spirit throughout the month. From Hoodie Day to Dress Like a Student/Teacher Day (our staff
had a great time with this one!), Wear Hearts Day, and the always-popular Crush pop sale, there
was plenty of fun to be had. A standout moment was when our kindergarten students rolled out
their "Cart of Kindness" delivering valentines and treats to every staff member—a small gesture
that made a big impact!
We also came together as a school to celebrate Valentine’s Day with activities and treats,
warmed up with Chicken Soup Wednesdays (just bring your own cup!), and most importantly,
took a stand for kindness and inclusion on Pink Shirt Day.
As February comes to a close, let’s carry this spirit of kindness forward into the months ahead.
Small acts of kindness make a big difference, and we are so proud of the caring culture we are
building together at Ryley School.
Thank you all for making this month so special!
With appreciation,

Badminton
Badminton season is starting in March for grades 7-9. We have 3 coaches so we will be having practices after school on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays for March with tournaments in April.
Girls and Boys Basketball
The girls and boys basketball teams wrapped up their season in February. Both teams did very well at the tournament they attended at the beginning of the month hosted by Charlie Killam School (girls placed 1st in Pool B and the boys were 2nd in Pool A). Congratulations! Thanks for all the support for our young athletes!
