Marauder Community,
What an eventful start to the year it has been! We are proud to celebrate the accomplishments of our students and staff over the last few months. In this newsletter you'll find stories about the magic happening both in our classrooms and around the Marcus community. This time of year is full of festivities, celebrations and events, so be sure to check your child's campus calendar as well as the Marcus High School calendar for things happening in your area. Thank you for reading!
On May 4, registered voters residing within Lewisville ISD boundaries will be asked to consider a total of three propositions that would generate funding to conduct maintenance, repair and renovation needs at various athletics and recreation facilities across the district, as well as all five existing high school stadiums and the district’s two existing Aquatic Centers. Keep reading to view the Marcus feeder pattern proposed projects:

Non-stadium track replacements (Briarhill, Downing, Lamar)

Even if voters approve all three bond propositions (totaling $101.8M), the LISD tax rate will not change. Early Voting will run from April 22 to April 30. The deadline to register to vote is Thursday, April 4. Visit LISD.net/Vote for voter registration information, polling locations and more.

Dr. Rapp Surprises 2023-24 Teacher of the Year Finalists
LISD Board Votes to Officially Name Steve Telaneus Track at Marauder Stadium
At their February Board Meeting, the LISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved the naming of the Marcus High School Track to the “Steve Telaneus Track at Marauder Stadium.” Steve Edward Telaneus, better known as Coach T, was the beloved head cross country and track coach at Marcus High School until his passing in 2020. Coach T joined the Marauder family in 1986 originally as a wide receivers coach, before becoming their first cross country and track coach. READ MORE
Marcus Band Suprises Local 101-Year-Old
Members of the Marcus High School Band surprised one of their biggest fans in celebration of her 101st birthday! Ms. Dixie lives close to campus, and frequently listens to the band when they practice. We love Ms. Dixie’s Marauder spirit and her support of our students! WATCH THE PERFORMANCE
Timber Creek Celebrates SRO Day
Our students and staff celebrated School Resource Officer, Officer Ivory on SRO Appreciation Day! She works hard to keep our Tigers feeling safe, happy, and aware! And she brings the fun! We appreciate all you do for our students and staff, Officer Ivory.
Prairie Trail Students Perform National Anthem at Marcus HS
M9 Recognized By Flower Mound Chamber of Commerce
At the meeting Carlin Greenhouse was named Student of the Month and Ashleigh Barron was named Teacher of the Month. M9 was also recognized for our upcoming 10th anniversary! READ MORE
Kids Heart Challenge at McAuliffe
McAuliffe students celebrated the end of the Kids Heart Challenge! The Kids Heart Challenge is held at schools across the country, delivering heart-healthy physical activity through service learning for the American Heart Association. Thanks to Coach Baker for teaching our students all about heart health!
Lamar Student Places 5th in Dallas Regional Spelling Bee
After being named first runner-up at the Denton County Spelling Bee, Lamar student Nivrit Kotturi placed 5th in the Dallas Regional Spelling Bee! We're so proud of his accomplishment.
Dallas Opera Visits Highland Village ES

Heritage Alum Visit Campus
As a part of our #AdoptAnAthlete program, several former Heritage Hawks stopped by campus to meet with our students. Once a Hawk, always a Hawk!
Bring a Parent to Music at Flower Mound ES

Downing Nurse Performs Cardiac Rescue
On January 4th, Lakeland Elementary Nurse Brenda Gonzalez and Downing Middle School Nurse Mary Ashmore both performed cardiac rescues for staff members on their respective campuses. We were so honored to celebrate these Heart Heroes and their families at our February Board Meeting. Read the full story HERE.
Bridlewood Places in Lego League Challenge
After developing curriculum around robotics, Lewisville ISD's STEM department and elementary STEM academies recently participated in the FIRST Lego League Challenge. During the challenge, student builds were judged on inventiveness and coding while participating in events with their custom-built robots. Bridlewood's fifth grade team, the Lego Masters, placed second in Robot Design. READ MORE
