Learn more about iReady
What is i-Ready?
i-Ready is an online program that will help us determine your child’s strengths and areas for growth, personalize their learning, and monitor their progress throughout the school year. i-Ready allows us to meet your child where they are and provides us with data to inform instruction.
The i-Ready Diagnostic is an adaptive assessment that adjusts its questions based on student responses. Each item a student receives is based on their answer to the previous question. For example, a series of correct answers will result in slightly harder questions, while a series of incorrect answers will yield slightly easier ones. The purpose of this is not to give your child a score or grade but to determine how to best support their learning.
i-Ready Instruction provides students with lessons based on their individual strengths and areas for growth. These lessons are interactive and provide strategic supports to keep your child engaged as they learn.
What can I do to help?
To support your child’s learning with online lessons, you can:
- · Discuss your child’s progress on their i-Ready lessons.
- · Celebrate your child’s learning and growth.
- · If your child’s teacher encourages them to use i-Ready lessons at home, reference these Fridge Tips to provide support.
Thank you for your continued support and for being a partner in your child’s learning! I look forward to sharing i-Ready information with you throughout the year. You can also learn more about i-Ready by visiting i-ReadyCentral.com/FamilyCenter.

Dear Neighbors,
There is nothing more important than keeping our children safe. I believed this deeply even before I became a parent, and that belief only intensified when my wife and I welcomed our beautiful baby boy into the world last August. There is nothing I wouldn’t do to protect him. Every day, I strive to shield him from unnecessary risks, just as each of you does for your own children. As parents, this is not just our responsibility—it’s our deepest instinct.
It’s this shared instinct to protect our children that makes me so aligned with your urgency to install stop signs at the intersection of Monroe and Copeland. I know that every time you think of your child crossing that street, you feel the same mix of concern and determination I do. That’s why I’m relieved to share that our efforts have paid off—the signs will be installed soon. But I also share your frustration. It shouldn’t take this long, or require this much work, to achieve something so simple yet vital: keeping our kids safe.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your patience and persistence. Your unwavering commitment to your child’s safety made all the difference. Because of you, thousands of children will be safer walking to school and exploring their neighborhood. This is a victory not just for your family, but for every family in our community.
The experiences we’ve had—here at Monroe and Copeland, and with other stop signs across the city—have motivated my office to reexamine how the City handles traffic safety. We’ve seen how outdated policies create frustrating delays, entangling even the best intentions in red tape. That’s why we’re working on reforms that will streamline the process, making it easier for communities like ours to take action to protect their families, without the drawn-out battles we’ve faced.
I hope you’ll continue to partner with us in this journey. Together, we can ensure that San Diego’s streets are safe for all—especially for our precious little ones.
With gratitude,
Sean Elo-Rivera
San Diego City Council President
