Willson Preschool Academy
Preschool News
Last week, students explored letters and numbers with stories about silly and friendly monsters. There were monsters in the sensory bins and crafty little monsters on artwork. This week we traveled around the world. Students received a passport and a stamp for each country they learned about. Students visited Australia, South America, Africa, Asia, and Europe. Each classroom had a fun week.
This is a reminder that we will not have school March 25-29 as it is Spring Break for Crawfordsville Community Schools. Enjoy the time with your family.
On March 22, 2024, tuition of $100 per month for students participating in the community classrooms is DUE for April. If you have any questions, please get in touch with us at 765-362-0005.
The mobile dentist will be visiting Willson Preschool on April 11th. Consent forms have been sent home with students. Please return the consent forms by March 21 if you want your student to be seen.
Information for Car Riders
Parents: The car rider line is in the parking lot located on Wabash Avenue. Please enter on the east side of the parking lot to travel around in an N-shape. For arrival procedures, parents can park to unload their students once they have reached one of the five painted cars that are on the playground fence. Please walk your student to the gate where you will be greeted by staff members. For dismissal procedures, students will be dismissed five at a time to their parents once the cars have been parked by the painted signs on the playground fence. Parents will walk up to the gate to greet their students. DO NOT pass a vehicle that is loading or unloading a student.
Transportation Changes
Please contact Megan, if there are any transportation changes needed for bussing or car rider. Any drop-off and pick-up address changes will require 48-hour notice before starting. Any changes regarding a student as a car rider will need to be placed 30 minutes before dismissal (10:00/1:20).

IREAD-3 Testing - IREAD-3 testing is complete and results will be coming home soon. I am so proud of how hard our students worked during testing. Our students also had wonderful attendance last week!
ILEARN/I AM TESTING - Third grade students will take the state assessment April 15-26, 2024. Please do not schedule any appointments during those weeks.
TRANSPORTATION - Please call the office prior to picking up your student for an appointment or send a note. We will do our best to make sure the student is ready when you get to the office. It helps the office staff if they know ahead of time if a student is leaving early.
If your child is going home a different way, we need to have a note or a phone call before 2:00 pm. There are many students in the building and the end of the day gets hectic. If you call for a change of transportation after 2:00, we cannot guarantee the message will get to your child. Please be considerate of our office staff and make arrangements before 2:00.

The Value of a Good Night of Sleep
A good night's sleep is one of the driving factors towards student success. Most elementary-age children need 10-12 hours of sleep per night. Lack of sleep often leads to concentration struggles and an inability to manage emotions. If we want to set up our children for success at school then we must be helping them get sufficient rest. We can do that by:
- Setting up a consistent bedtime routine. This will look different for every family and child but may include reading a book, taking a shower/bath, getting in pajamas, brushing teeth, or tucking in your child.
- Have all electronics shut off at least an hour before bedtime.
- Keeping your home quiet and calm leading up to and at bedtime.
- Sitting with your child and recapping their day.
- Play light calming music, use a noise machine, or have a fan running to help foster a calm environment.
Helping our children have a peaceful and restful night will lead to a healthier immune system, better school performance, more consistent behavior, better memory, and improved mental health!
