Middle School LC Newsletter
May 2024
Hello Middle School LCs!
As we enter teacher appreciation time in May (May 6th - 10th), I want to give a thank you to our students' first teachers - YOU! Thank you parents, guardians, and LCs for supporting education in your home. While we greatly value academics and life skills that students gain in school, we also know that many of life's lessons are learned at home and out in the world. Thank you for being there for your student(s).
It is hard to believe we are in the last month of school year 2023-24! This time is filled with anxiety of balancing the (hopefully) beautiful weather with ensuring school work is done, the excitement of summer on the horizon, and pride of sending out 8th graders onto high school. Our teachers are busy this month wrapping up their final units and ensuring we have as much evidence collected from students as possible to determine their mastery levels in grade level standards. As an administrator I am also working with other staff to ensure next year is planned and runs smoothly. So far we know re-registration plans for 88% of our students at Middle School. Thank you to the LCs who have let us know! It really helps us to plan and staff appropriately prior to summer open enrollments.
Let's finish this year strong with no regrets so that we can enjoy all that summer brings!
Classroom Tools and Resources
Each month I will highlight one or two tools that students may use as a part of their learning.
How to Re-Register
Whether you are returning, going somewhere else next year, or undecided, please let us know your plans if you have not yet done so. See the directions below. The legal guardian will need to use a browser (not the app) to log in and complete.

Quote of the month
"There is no magic to achievement. It's really about hard work, choices, and persistence." ~ Michelle Obama
What is Ms. Cherney reading?
The Essential 55 by Ron Clark
This is a hard time of year for teaching. Teachers work tirelessly to support students who seem to be distracted by end of school year, nice weather, or other busy schedules. I'm hoping this book is refreshing and that I can pull from it to support teachers with fresh ideas and motivation.
