Seal of Arts Excellence (Seniors)
Fayette County Public Schools recognizes graduating seniors who demonstrate an advanced level of specialization in a visual and performing arts discipline. Students earning the Seal of Arts Excellence receive:
- A medal to wear at their graduation ceremony (in compliance with the regalia guidelines)
- An emblem on their high school diploma; and
- A notation on their transcript.
The Seal of Arts Excellence -- first offered to the Class of 2024 -- allows seniors to make concrete connections between their artistic endeavors and the FCPS focus on high levels of achievement, cultural competence, and preparation for the future. The portfolio should represent a student’s best work throughout their high school experience and showcase how the arts truly embody an "Education Beyond Expectation."
Intent to Apply Due November 1st

Empowering Student Leaders Through Restorative Practices!
We are excited to announce that our College and Career Pathfinders have received specialized training from district PBIS Coach, Rhea Patton, on facilitating restorative circles for postsecondary readiness! These conversations are designed to demystify the planning process, boost confidence, and equip students with the tools and resources they need for their future. We are so proud of our Pathfinders for stepping into leadership roles, guiding their peers on their journeys, and fostering a supportive, inclusive environment where every student can find their path to success!

Freshman Academy Students Commit to Graduation
Freshman Academy students all participated in our annual Commitment to Graduation ceremony, in which 9th grade students learn about the importance of community and hard work, while dedicating themselves to graduating with honors in 4 years! This year, we had special guests, including our academy ambassadors, JROTC students with the Presentation of Colors, our BSHS Drum Core, and guest speaker Judge Melissa Moore Murphy. Thank you to everyone who helped to plan and execute this event. It was the best one yet! We can't wait to see what you do, Class of 2028!
Teaching and Learning Leadership Students Visit Marksbury Lexington Public Library
The new Marksbury Lexington Public Library on Versailles Rd. hosted two groups of Teaching and Learning Students this week. They have a great teen area, a makerspace craft spot, and a good-sized collection of books in Spanish! The children's area was bustling and the children's book selection is amazing.

It Apprentices Receive Macbook Pros from Dataseam
In conjunction with our Dataseam partnership, our four IT Apprentices, Brooke, Estella, Jaiden, and Max, received Macbook Pros that they will keep upon completion of the program. As apprentices, these students applied to become student workers at Bryan Station and FCPS and get paid to do IT-related work during their school days! Upon completion of the program, they will receive their journeyman's license. Current sophomores will have the ability to apply for the program at the end of this year!
Civics Expo
Seniors in social studies class interacted with nearly 40 community partners today during the Civics Expo to gather information and inspiration for their Local Government unit projects. Experiences like this help FCPS students become civically engaged and culturally responsive!
AP Government and Politics Students on American Political Ideology and Beliefs
AP Government and Politics Students started a Unit on American Political Ideology and Beliefs. They read about different political typologies and deciding as a group what percentage of the US Voting Population each represents (Doing Math in Social Studies Class!). They each took a political typology quiz and reflected on their results, wrapping it all up by working individually placing different Policy Issues in order of importance. It was a really cool way to introduce the concepts of the unit, plus they did ALL the work!
