Woodhaven-Brownstown School District offers healthy meals every school day. Breakfast costs $1.25 for all students; lunch costs $2.70 for Elementary School students and $3.10 for Middle and High School students. Your children may qualify for free meals or reduced-price meals. Reduced-price is $.30 for breakfast and $.40 for lunch.
We encourage you to complete an online application instead of a paper application if you are able. Please visit https://sisweb.resa.net/FSApp/Main/Login or (click here) and click on "Online Application for School Meals." Please contact Ken Barnes at 734-789-2353 or barnesk@wbsdweb.com if you have any questions about the online application.
ATTENDANCE COUNTS
Children can only thrive in school if they are present in school. Listed below are our definitions of and policies pertaining to attendance.
Absence—any day that a student misses school.
Late arrivals - After 9:30am the student will be marked absent for the morning.
Early Dismissal - before 2:30pm in the afternoon the student will be marked absent for the PM.
Excused Absence—Any medically documented absence, funeral days, or court will not be counted against the student. Documentation must be turned into the office or your child's teacher.
Calling the attendance line will not excuse your child.
Excessive Absences:
If a child accumulates 10 absences in a school year, the building administrator will send a letter to inform the parent/guardian
If the child reaches 15 absences in a school year the building administrator will inform the local police department of a potential truancy issue.
The police department will then contact or visit the child’s home to discuss the truancy with the parents.
If the absences reach 20 in a school year, according to law, referrals must be made to the Local Police Department and possibly, the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office.
*Parents are encouraged not to take their children out of school for vacations. Vacation days are considered unexcused.
TARDIES—arrives late or leaves early from school and missing LESS than 55 minutes of school time
