CONGRATULATIONS MORGAN LOWELL!
WHS Senior Morgan Lowell is a four-sport athlete, participating in Cross Country, Basketball, Soccer, and Track for the Panthers. So she had some choices to make when it was time to consider pursuing athletics beyond high school. Today Morgan’s family, friends, high school coaches, and college coach gathered as she made it official — she will run cross country at Lake Michigan College next year. Athletic Director Ken Dietz told the assembled crowd that not only was LMC gaining a superb athlete, but also a good student and an all-around good person. Congratulations, Morgan!

CONGRATULATIONS COACH LINDERMAN!
Congratulations to Coach Linderman who takes over as the new boys’ varsity basketball coach and heads up the boys’ basketball program at WPS.
Zack brings a lot of experience and enthusiasm to the program. He spent 18 years teaching history and coaching varsity basketball in the Chicago Public League. Four years ago he and his wife Terrie and son Ray moved to SW Michigan when he became the head basketball coach and high school history teacher in Bangor. He spent this past season at Watervliet, teaching high school history, coaching JV basketball, and building a strong foundation with our lower-level middle school and elementary teams.
Coach Linderman brings a strong belief in the student-athlete and a positive hard working culture inside the basketball community. Coach Linderman owned and operated his own club program for ten years. His high school teams and club teams saw many student-athletes progress to another level of basketball.
Coach Linderman says, “This past year, I have really enjoyed working for Watervliet Public Schools. The culture surrounding sports and academics is exceptional and the Watervliet community is passionate about their school and their athletic programs. I am very excited about taking the boys’ basketball program forward. “

Students had four different compounds to heat up until they did or did not dissolve. This helped them understand the difference

PLEASE ACCESS CANVAS FOR YOUR CHILD!
We want you accessing your child's Canvas account! Please take the following steps so that you can be checking on his/her grades on a regular basis.
Steps for parents to create a parent Canvas account.
Obtain Student Pairing Code
Sign up for an account through your phone app or on the computer using an email address.
Parents should go to www.watervlietps.org and click on the link "Canvas for Parents" in the middle of the homepage. Here is the direct link: https://www.
canvas-resources. Here you will find the screenshot instructions, a 7 slide presentation and brief videos on navigating the parent portal, checking grades, viewing assignments and accessing teacher feedback.
Students need to create the pairing code for their parents and it is only valid for 7 days.
If you are having difficulty obtaining the student pairing code, teachers have access to this information within their course by going to People and clicking on the 3 dots in the upper right corner and choosing Export Pairing Codes. Again, these pairing codes are only good for 7 days. Quick way for teachers get this code to a parent when communicating with them.
Instructions are online AND shared every Friday in the high school parent newsletter.
Please reach out to us in the high school office if you have questions or concerns about accessing your child's Canvas account. We need and want your support at the high school!
