AISD Board Calls School Funding Referendum for Nov. 5
The Argyle ISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved calling a School Funding Referendum for November 5 during Monday’s regular Board meeting.
If approved, the AISD’s School Funding Referendum would generate approximately $2.5 million to address budget priorities including teacher and staff pay raises, providing campus support positions, and addressing increasing class sizes for the future. This referendum includes a 7.7-cent tax increase to the Maintenance & Operations (M&O) tax rate.
The M&O rate funds school district operations, instruction, staff, transportation, maintenance, and daily operating expenses. In contrast, the Interest & Sinking (I&S) fund, representing the other part of the district’s annual budget, is financed through bonds. Bond funds from the I&S budget cannot be used for operational costs such as teacher raises, rising utilities, increasing insurance costs, or other day-to-day expenses.

Argyle ISD Community We Need Your Help! Spread The Word
We need action and we need it now! Please join us in asking our legislators to prioritize public education funding!
Presently,
- Argyle ISD is one of few districts in the state that has received the Formula Transition Grant since 2019 and faces a significant funding cliff beginning with the 2024-2025 fiscal year when FTG expires,
- Argyle ISD is subject to losing approximately $250,000 via the Robin Hood formula of “recapture,”
- There has been NO CHANGE to the basic allotment despite 40-year record inflation.
- Argyle ISD, like most school districts in Texas, is struggling to provide meaningful raises to our teachers.

SHE'S A CHAMP: Harbach Wins Junior Olympics Title!

Emily’s track Coach, Pete Abbey, recommended with her speed and softball history that she throw the javelin, so they began to work twice a week during the summer. At her first track meet, she finished 1st with a throw of 123’, which qualified her to throw in the Junior Olympics in College Station.
At the Junior Olympics, her first throw was only 97’- 11” which she followed with a longer throw of 117’ - 3”. This left her in 10th place while only the top 8 advance to finals.
She went from 10th to 1st in one throw, which qualified her for the finals and three more throws. In the finals, she further cemented 1st place with a new personal record of 143'-3", making her the 2024 Junior Olympics National Champion of Women Javelin Throw (17-18).
