Celebrating our 8th Graders
This is the time of year when we celebrate our amazing 8th graders as they reach the end of their middle school experience. While our staff will miss our 8th graders… this wonderful Class of 2028… we are so excited for them and all they will accomplish in high school and beyond. To celebrate our 8th graders, we have these special activities planned for them:
Wednesday, June 5
Assembly at SMS for our 8th graders presented by Sumner High School leadership and band students
Monday, June 10
Grad Tour: SHS and BLHS graduates parade through SMS hallways
Immediately after the Grad Tour, our 8th graders will walk to Sumner High to tour the school during 5th and 6th period. The purpose is to make sure all of our students have a chance to visit the high school before summer break.
Field trip forms will be given out to students in 5th period on June 3; forms are to be returned to 5th period by June 7
Thursday, June 13
Collect chromebooks and chargers from our 8th grade students during 1st and 2nd period
Locker clean out during 3rd period
8th Grade assembly during 5th period
The 8th grade assembly will celebrate all 8th graders; a few 8th graders will be nominated by their teachers for an 8th grade award
8th grade celebration in the Commons during 6th period
SMS Booster parents will present 8th grade gifts and provide snacks
SMS tributes written by staff will be given to each student
8th grade students who purchased yearbooks will get them at this time
